Routine. That was the most important thing. You could cling to it when there was nothing else to cling to. Life could seem normal when you had a routine. She had been a loner for the past few years - no changes there. Sure, school did not exist anymore. Training opportunities were scarce. But she could deal with it. Even though she had never liked school, a small pile of text books sat on a desk in the corner of the living room. It was something to do. It was normality.
Pancakes - they were normality too. Pancakes and coffee. She finished the dough and took a sip of the milky liquid that was starting to get cold. Isa had jumped on the coffee band wagon early. Yet, her idea of coffee consisted of a hot beverage that could more be described as coffee flavored milk. In her time it had been the cause of speckles of banter between her and her baba. That was gone now. Everything was still awkward. The only way she knew how to deal with it was to ignore the awkwardness and pretend that everything was all right. She coped. He coped. Nothing to worry about. Life was peachy.
