Luke recognized Obi-Wan right away. He was still young and lean, nothing like the old hermit who had lived near Luke all his life and had become his teacher later on. Obviously, the life in the harsh desert of Tattooine took a toll on anyone who lived there. There was still no mistaking him, though, even with his looks and voice those of a younger man. But Luke could still detect something more. Luke had always seen the look of despair and defeat in Obi-Wan's eyes, and he knew enough now to know that he had taken Anakin's fall harshly. Perhaps he could show Obi-Wan that he hadn't been a complete failure, that despite what had happened with Anakin, Luke had been a success because of Obi-Wan.
He smiled back, projecting a warmth and friendliness with the Force at the familiar voice. "Hello. Thank you. It's good to see you." Luke replied. "All this is so much to take in...I've been talking to some of the other Jedi, and it's all so confusing. I'm definitely going to speak to the Doctor. However, I'm so glad for this chance I've been given with you."
