Thomas gave a nod. "That's all right. It is not that I could claim this land as my property." He viewed it as such but there was no document to state it. The house on the other hand was his and the compliment about it made not feel him sullen like it usually was the case. And in just this moment, he made a decision he might later regret. "Would you like to come in? I could offer you some tea." The kindness of a stranger had helped him on his first day here. Returning it seemed a good start for a new part of his life. Maybe, just maybe, there was a way to overcome the shadow of the past.
