Laura settled down on the edge of the ring, strapping padding to her fists and top of her bared feet. Not that she worried over breaking anything on her person, but there was no need to break anything on anyone else. Especially since they did not heal as quickly as she did. Once she was fitted she began her stretches, warming up muscles that didn't get used as often as others. Once she felt well worked up she moved over to the device she'd brought with her. A music player and a set of speakers. Dark emo music broke the silence. Laura began taking out her frustrations with their local 'god' out on the sand bags. He had her questioning things. Things that didn't make sense to question. Sure she had more humanity than she'd had when she'd been under the thumb of The Facility. She had more than she'd had when she was released out into the world by Captain Rogers and Matt Murdock. But she wasn't close to being human. How could she be something she'd never been. The only times she'd ever come close was when the island stole powers. Or swapped them. And she'd hated every moment of it. The poor sense of smell. The short eyesight. How everything hardly had a taste before you actually bit into it. Being unable to hear everything was the worst. One would think it was the length it took to heal. How close to death they could come when they lost too much blood. How they needed to eat, drink and sleep regularly. But no. It was the deafening silence that she couldn't stand. As she struck the sand bag with one final blow she had to fight the urge to pierce it with her claws. |
