Who: Abi and Hemingway
Where: Boston, MA
When: Late Saturday
What: Discovering pasts
Rating: High
Open: Nooooooooooooo
It was every memory come to life the second she had stepped back through the door to her bar. It wasn't really her bar but she could still smell the smoke embedded in the wood grain and felt the creak of every baseboard like piano keys. Wandering around Boston with him, showing her not-fiancé the sights, was fun but Abi knew this bar was where she came to life again. She owed a lot to the owner Mike who had greeted her with open arms and a wry smile when she stepped through the doors in jean shorts and a white t-shirt like she'd never left. It was tempting her to go back to who she had been before the island, before Charlie and domesticity, when she flirted with the wrong guys and knew that the path she was going down would lead to ruin. Now that it was just a visit, she could finally show Hemingway who she'd been all those years ago.
Abi was on her third bottle of weak-ass beer, dirty music playing in the back as she leant on her pool cue. "You're never gonna sink that ball, old Man," she said to Hemingway, seeing Mike shake his head behind the bar. "Not without cheating."
