Once Jake had returned to his People, his hair had been shaved and rebraided, and he wore the appropriate clothing for one who was Olo'eyktan and Toruk Makto. It felt a bit weird at first - thanks to the Island, he'd only actually dreamed about the whole battle with Quaritch and the rest of the tawtutes, or seen it on the movie, but he did have the memories of all that had happened and he soon got used to the weight of it.
Mo'at had looked at Jake very oddly when he'd gone to her privately and asked for a recap of all that had happened since he had passed through the Eye of Eywa, but he told her that he had been sent a dream where he'd lived for years in a different place and that it had been so vivid and real that it had to have been sent by Eywa (It helped that there were a handful of atokirina' dancing on his head as he told his mother-in-law a vague indication of the truth). Mo'at eventually nodded and told him what he had asked, helping him ground himself in "reality" once more. If she noticed his extra scars or the fact that his Na'vi was far better than it had been when he'd last spoken to her, or any indication that he had spent a significant amount of time away from the Omaticaya, she gave no sign.
He made a point of greeting every member of the tribe as they broke their fast and went about their morning business. With no new Hometree chosen yet and no loom to work on, things were slightly different, but the herds still needed tending to and their stores still needed replenished, amongst other things. Once he had spent time with everyone, even the kids, he consulted with Mo'at once more and decided that there should be a hunt. Banshee was delighted to be doing what he was supposed to do once more, and Jake was surprised at just how easy he found it to be to start making decisions. He'd led the hunt and then organized the celebration afterwards and was very glad to find that the teylu and the bug juice were both just as good as he'd remembered them. That had been a good night, even if he had spent a good amount of time looking for Tsu'tey and Grace, and all the other brothers and sisters that had been lost in the battle.
The next day, he'd gone to the Tree of Souls in order to spend some time with Eywa on his own. It probably wasn't what an Olo'eyktan was supposed to do, but he wasn't like any other Clan Leader there'd ever been before. He told her about everything that had happened, about all the people that he'd met and everything he knew he had learned in his time on the Island. And he'd told her that he would have to go back soon, along with Neytiri. When he disconnected, there were a handful of atokirina' sitting on the ground in front of him and not dancing through the air like the others that surrounded him. He gathered them up and put them in his carry-pouch, knowing instinctively that they were for the Island.
After a few days of spending time with his People, all manner of skills he'd gained on the island coming in more than handy, he decided it was time to head back to the base to check on any Islanders who'd come through the door.
