She had expected many things, but...not that. Sweet merciful ancestors, not *that*. Her breath caught in her throat and her hand flew up to cover her mouth as her eyes welled with tears. It was a dagger in her soul, this...betrayal. As the tears slid down her face she remembered finding Hoshiro, she remembered the sky color of his baby eyes, and how he'd clutched at her finger.
She had loved him unreservedly from the moment she'd held him in her arms, and now, now to hear that he had betrayed her? Had betrayed the city, the Sanguine..her Lords. He had betrayed everything she had ever taught him and it wrested a keen from her as she hid her face in her hands and wept.
He was lost, her beautiful, blue eyed boy was lost to her. she could not call a traitor son. She could not defend him, she *would* not. he had betrayed the honor of her house, and he would pay with his life, no matter how it grieved her to do it. Hoshiro must die...and the knowing of it felt as if her heart was being cut from her breast.
