Maiha stood before her door, knowing he'd gone by it before on the way in to his own. There was a tiny twinge of guilt that came then. Should he have told her, as he was coming in? Should he have stopped and spoken to her, even if he were still wrapped in dirty furs and feeling as if he'd just been dragged through the mud? No. His pride would not have allowed for it. Maiha was clean then, of course. He felt better than he had in so very long, and it was time for him to emerge from his rooms as if he'd never been near to the most final death. Why not begin that process in truth with a smile and a greeting to one he did count, truly, as a friend? There would be time enough to greet the others, all he could play false without batting an eyelash - but Dulcinea was comfortable in his heart.
Gently, he knocked on her door, and then stood to the side to wait. He leaned against the wall, his face rather expressionless, his posture showing slight boredom and indifference. He took out a fan and began the process of creating a soft breeze to cool a face which did not need it. There was no place he'd rather be right then, as a small bubble of excitement began to build up then. He hoped that Dulcinea would be pleased to see him. He had missed her company, in his time away.
