I'm apparently going to need a job to make ends meet here, and I'm not opposed to working at all of course but I can't deny, things are considerably different now. I have no idea how my skills would even transfer over to a place like this. There's not even a milkman anymore If this was real New York I might at least get a job at the Embassy or as a translator somewhere but I imagine 'Goodland' doesn't have much of a tourism industry.

The new styles will take some time to get used to, but a solid suit is still an option and that's always for the best.

[Diana]

Any chance I can take you to dinner soon? If you don't mind being seen with an unemployed hobo, anyway.

What did you do at home?

Well. That's a little complicated. I enlisted the minute I turned 18. I'm a pilot. But I'm also a spy? And technically a diplomat.

It's a lot, I know.

Seriously? Just like that?

Yeah, I'm definitely interested.

Sure, you are a friend of Diana's. Come by Stark Industries at [location] when you are free. We'll discuss.

I see she's earned herself a bit of a following.

Thank you, Tony. I'll do my best to make it worth it for you.

Of course you can.

Though... perhaps I should take you shopping first?

I have no idea what you're talking about, this shirt absolutely matches these pants and the fashion of this era is horrific.

I feel like you're just trying to get back at me for getting Etta to take you shopping.

It... suits you, but perhaps you would feel more at ease fitting in with the current times?

Only a little.

Oh, no, you missed it. I went and got clothes! They're completely horrible and I despise them. So yes, current times that don't look like...this.

I... see.

Yes, I will help you remedy that. It is the least I can do for you. I would not have fit into man's world without your and Etta's help.

Diana, you could never 'fit in', and I wouldn't want you to. Standing out is far better on you.

I'm afraid that isn't... something I was doing until recently--prior to coming here.

You've been forcing yourself to blend into people who are, quite honestly, beneath you?

Diana, why?

No, not at all. I don't see your people as beneath me, Steve. I could not.

I... defeated Ares, and I suppose that I... put my sword and shield away. The fight left me for many years.

It isn't the people as a race, Diana. It's you as a person.

Darling, I I see. You had been trained your whole life for that fight. I imagine it couldn't have been easy, having it all come to a head that way. And in a world not your own.

I'm afraid you've placed too much greatness on me, Steve.

It was... a great deal of loss thereafter, not just for me. I only used my strength to help where I saw it, I had no fight in me for more wars. Even without Ares, mankind continued to fight their foolish battles.

I've done no such thing. You've earned all of it.

I did warn you. You may have ended the Great War, but... I mean, people aren't inherently good or bad. We have some of all of it in us, I'm afraid. I wish I could say all evil was contributed to one man - one god - and without him, the world could continue in peace. But it just doesn't work that way.

I am happy just knowing that you believe as much.

You did, and I wished I could have turned to you to learn more. Instead, I put my head in the sand and let the world pass me by. I am not so great, Steve Trevor.

No. No, this is not your fault in any way. Your optimism, your hope for the world, that's the sort of fuel we all need. You are still the most compassionate being I have ever met and I have no idea where you keep all of that in you but it's incredible. Everyone falls sometimes, Diana. Even warriors. It's what we do when we get our feet back under us that should matter the most.

What you did for the fight that night, not everyone has that bravery in them. That isn't a flaw, but it is certainly worth more than a simple merit.

Come, let's get you to the mall, Steve.

I'm still not certain what a mall is, but it is kind of fun watching you get to be the one in the know.
