For those with young charges or simply interested, I'll begin training [ location ] here soon. Sword-fighting, general weaponry use, defense, magic, make your choices.

Solona and Yen will be teaching as well. ... My thanks. Have you interest in training young ones, talk to me.

EMMA

I've survived to live another day.

She is ... we are willing.

Can’t help you there.

Deserved. I have my reasons for being concerned for taking part in this matter.

I’ll do it nonetheless.

I think it'll keep for your next bout of idiocy.

You may have them, but you should really stop making those decisions for Yen based on your own perception of short comings. I'm wildly aware of some of them, and yet...

I thought you might. You have magic, a degree of it. Which means your body has to be prepared for my style of magic to have an effect. This will just ease the process.

And I did try to make it taste better, but it just doesn't work.

Hmm.

Not my shortcomings so much as things that can’t be helped. Magic was used to mutate me, made me a witcher. Hard to ignore the possibility it would have an adverse effect on a child. Not something I would want to pass on.

I’ve had worse ale, I’m sure.

Was magic not used to alter Yen? Is it not being used to create the possibility of this child? Not all magical effects are bad, Geralt. They can be positive if the mindset is.

Isn't being a witcher what brought you to Yen?

These were bad. Most did not survive the process.

In a way. It is what I am, though not by choice.

Whatever the process of this, Yen and the child will survive. It may be uncomfortable at times, but I'll ensure they live.

Not of all us get a choice in what we are. Making do with it is all that's possible.

I'd be more concerned for how the child will turn out because of me.

I am proof of as much.

That has more to do with how it's raised. Not what it's born with.

Among others. The point is, you're not all bad. Mutations or not.

Depends on the effects. As no Witcher has ever had children, so far as I am aware, not should they be able to do it, this would be ... new.

I’d like to hope you’re right.

Yes, uncharted territory, doesn't always need to be bad.

You know, I'm not exactly the epitome of optimism, it didn't get passed down from my mother, but Jesus Christ you're a bundle of pessimism.

Let us hope not.

Lived long enough to know optimism doesn't always beget goodness.

The circumstances of a child's birth are only how it becomes... not who. Witcher or not, you'll be a part of something never before seen. How you treat that has more input on the outcome than anything else.

Evil isn't born. It's made. Darkness can't consume if there's no light to consume.

Do at least try not to approach this like it's a death sentence of some sort? Yen might think you're having doubts.

Being evil, good, middling ... those aren’t my concerns. It’s any physical effects of my own mutations that could be passed on.

Not at all. I want her to be happy.

Such as what? I can possibly see about counteracting anything serious. Like heart defects or abnormalities but...

You really need to figure out how to be happy too, you know. I'm pure darkness and I manage it better

I can’t say. It’s never been done to have an idea. I never had any, but the mutations changed me completely. Doesn’t matter, she knows there are risks.

Happiness is waking up beside her every day.

Your child will be healthy, they will have all their fingers and toes, their organs will all form and they will be human. Mostly. I'm not sure you and Yen qualify as 'human', but the child will be as close to it.

You really are a sap.

Mm. For her, yes.

I'd say you owe me the biggest favour. Don't worry, when the time comes I will collect.

Sap. It's adorable.

So long as it isn’t indentured servitude, I have few qualms with remitting payment.

Oh, dear, really. I think if you were around me too long I'd look for a way to lobotomise myself. No, probably just some help breaking a curse. It'll be a while though.
