The fruit and things all taste more intense here. They're not as pretty looking and you have to wash them better but they're so much less bland.

And the bananas are different. I don't know what's with the bananas.

Probably because people don't really treat them with anything these days. No pesticides, GMOs, hormones and all that stuff. Plus, they're not really all that chemically modified yet.

Oh, genetic engineering. I think my mother talked about that.

Yeah that's pretty common for food starting in like...the mid-twentieth century? I'm not sure when really.

It might be different in different worlds, anyway. A lot of the science I've read here seems to be behind what people that got brought here can do.

There was a banana fungus that wiped the Gros Michel mostly off the map, so banana probably tastes like banana here, since banana candy was formulated about the Gros Michel.

So bananas are just completely different now and no one talks about it?

Yeah. People used to eat the Gros Michel, now it's Cavendish. A heartier tree or whatever.

I wonder if we could take banana seeds back or something.

I think the fungus that wiped out the Gros Michel is still active.

Maybe if we go to Thailand or something.

Man, that was some good bananas.

Generally speaking food has improved, though. Or the way it's cooked, anyway.

The main meals seem pretty normal. Except things come in cans.

Must of Wundagore just ran on magic but I think the kitchens were updated with technology. I know my mother had a lot of fridges and things in her laboratory. Between the two I don't think there was much need to preserve things.

Then you just need to wait a little. Or invent them first and make some more money while we're here.
