Just what I need, another entity fucking with my life. As if that's gone so well for me thus far.

An incentive maybe. It doesn't seem to want anything and I know what people want.

Nice place, been there a couple of times. I do love London though. Always did.

There's an ulterior motive in all of this somewhere. Just because we haven't quite put our fingers on what it is doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

You know what people want, do you? And how, pray tell, do you do that?

It's a shit-hole. Why do you think so many good things come out of Liverpool? cause they can't wait to leave!

Of course there's an ulterior motive but figuring that out isn't easy. It's being weirdly helpful.

Demon. It comes with the territory really. But this thing, can't read it.

Ah but you have the Beatles. And Brookside was fun.

Helpful entities are even more suspicious than dubiously absent ones.

Perfect. First person I meet in a strange new world and I'm already practicing banishment. So, what's your deal, demon? What do you want?

Brookside only got the ratings because of the sweary lesbians.

I like dubiously absent ones. Makes life so much easier.

Woah now, no banishing or disconcerting or anything of the sort. I'm not hurting anyone. My deal? I want to enjoy my life, occasionally cause a little trouble and stop the end of existence ever happening.

Sweary lesbians and patio graves.

Dubiously absent deities at least hint at some kind of free will. This, far less so.

Are you trying to convince me that I'm dealing with a good demon? Not that I'd argue with your life goals, if that truly is your thing.

Ahh, the days when patio graves didn't reek of Fred and Rose West. Those were the days!

Exactly. Or they just don't notice when you cut corners.

What? NO! No no no no not good, no. Just not the big bad evil. I was just hanging out with the wrong crowd when the whole rebellion thing kicked off. No one expected Lucifer to throw the universes first tantrum. I was put on earth to tempt the humans and keep an eye on the other side. Then the end of days came and y'know, I liked the world. So, I helped out with the saving it.

I mean, I've done some pretty twisted things all the same, the M25? My idea.

Yeaaah humanity doesn't actually need demons does it?

You like humans? You're a convert, aren't you? Agnosticism definitely has it's advantages when you come from the standpoint of knowing there are deities around.

I should banish you for the M25 alone.

Fine. You're not going to attempt to corrupt this world because you don't want to go to hell and I don't want to take on another demon because I've got enough on my hands already, so let's call this a truce.

M25... bloody bastard!

I think you'll find I said I liked the world. Humans are just also there.

...there's some of them that aren't terrible. But that's as far as I'm going on that.

Not a convert, still a demon. First one on earth actually. But not planning any corruption. Actually, how are you with minor corruption with hilarious and very minor consequences, just so I know where we are?

Also, I'm still proud of the M25 thing. It was my finest hour. Enjoyed it more than the whole apple thing.

Right. Humans made the world what it is and you like it. Message received and I promise not to pass it on to the authorities.

You were the one that tempted Eve? AND you made the M25? What kind of bastard are you?! MY kind of bast...

Mostly I'm on board with petty corruption with hilarious consequences, so long as I'm in on the joke and not the butt of it.

Oh come on, if you didn't live in London you'd think it was funny!

But yes, that's me. Names Crowley.

I live in America, most recently, and it's still not funny.

Nice to meet you Crowley, you dastardly demon from the pit of Hades. I'm John Constantine. Don't try to tempt me, I might give in.
