From what I can tell we had some pretty advanced science back home, comparitively.

Nice to meet you.

Yeah, I'm not really big on technology because of the whole Ultron thing? But I can fix pipes though.

Understandable. Most of my work is actually theoretical for similar reasons. I have no doubt I could do some incredible things if I wanted. I have more doubt I wouldn't do something well-intentioned and terrible if I got started.

I don't know. I guess the question would be 'do we really need it'?

I try to go on an ethos of the question not being "can I?" but "should I?" Even something that seems like it would have no downsides can go in unexpected directions once it gets out of a controlled environment.

I mean, in my experience, the answer would probably be no. Don't get me wrong, I'm fine with ACOSTA and Vision, but Ultron destroyed so much and for what

None of this shit is really worth it in the end.

So far I've got by far the lowest death count of any notable scientist in my reality so hopefully I'm doing okay. Discounting the Army, I mean.

Sounds like you are.

I don't mean to sound overbearing or anything. If I do, I'm sorry.

Oh, no, I totally agree with you. We've had some really good cautionary tales.

There do seem to be loads.

Was Steve alive? In your world?

Had a couple of close calls, but yeah, he was. I worked with him a few times.

He makes me think it's healthy to be told you're wrong sometimes. The others talk pretty highly of theirs though and it seems like we're statistically more likely to get theirs than mine if he ever turns up.

He sounds like Tony?

Oh no thank you. I'm not sure I'm rea Look, I didn't wake up this morning expecting to see a bunch of dead people.

Oh, our Tony definitely gets told he's wrong. Scientist arguments are vicious.

I know the feeling.

[...] Do all Tonys have an Ultron? Because I figured that's when you learn you fucked up big time.

Yeah. That's a thing here, apparently.

Ultron was Pym in my world. I think Tony's big moment might have been a little more personal.

Whether you're okay with it or not, unfortunately.

But you're cool, Sam. Thanks for listening to me.

No, I mean-- Pym created Ultron(s). There were a whole lot of them, then one developed self-awareness, got creepy weird, and killed someone whose father nearly destroyed the planet in revenge when he found out. Which ironically is how Pym died.

It's cool. Kind of refreshing meeting someone who doesn't act like I just escaped a nightmare hellscape... even if it probably kind of was.

Oh fuck I hope there aren't multiples [...] My Pym just gets small and then big again, and he has wings. He has a real squeaky voice, too.

I probably don't know any better. It's pretty amazing how quickly something can become your new normal.

The kid Pym, I assume. He got the wings from Janet.

Then it feels really weird when people act like it's not. Not actually a great feeling, huh.

Probably. Doesn't really make him any less annoying.

Everybody's got their own normal. And this normal looks a little boring, sorry to say.

That definitely sounds like a sibling thing.

It really does. Food's better though. TV's a lot better.
