It's scary how easy it's been to settle into a life here. A good life, too. I miss people from home but the majority of my 'family' are right here and so long as they are I feel safe. Are we supposed to be happy here?

Jury's definitely still out there. I think it's possible that it sees us as some sort of pet or toy that it's looking after, but it's also possible it's just manipulation.

Well that's comforting. I'm not sure how I feel about being a pet, especially given that I'm training to be a vet and I see how some people treat them!

All the time, it's my optimism and faith in humanity that does it.

Honestly, I don't know. I think if it is in earnest... pets might not be the most accurate, but it does seem almost child-like in some ways. Petulant.

Yeah, I bet humanity deserves all the comforting you give it, too. Damn humanity!!

That actually makes scary sense. Like someone or something that doesn't know how or what humans want and tries to please them anyway?
