EXT. ROOFTOP GARDEN, CURRENTLY ABANDONED DUE TO RAIN. DUSK. |
PETER PARKER sits under a covered area on a rooftop garden, staring out at the rain, phone in hand, held up like he's taking a picture or video. He wears a gray sweater with the hood pulled up and jeans. Wet spos on the hoodie indicate he's recently been out in the rain.) |
LIGHTNING FLASHES, FOLLOWED BY THUNDER. |
(His voice is more subdued than normal, more contemplative. Clearly he has a lot on his mind.) |
PETER: This isn't a normal thunderstorm. It looks like a normal thunderstorm, but this is actually a thunderstorm on a different planet, in a different galaxy, in a different universe. |
(He sighs, touches his phone's screen so it flips back to selfie mode. He stares at the image of himself, hand over his mouth as he gathers his thoughts. He drops his hand.) |
PETER: I've been here about five days, and, up until very recently, I thought that this -- being on a foreign planet in a foreign universe -- was the strangest thing to happen to me. It's definitely making the top five right now, and it's honestly really awesome. The multiverse is more than a theory, and I get to have first hand expierence with it! Not only that, but Star Wars is real! That opens the door for anything to be real -- for any story on Earth to be real. And that's insane! |
(He laughs, a look of delighted disbelief on his face.) |
PETER: It's also crazy that I exist in another universe. That what happened to me at home happens to me in at least another universe. This guy, Sam -- but not the one from Germany with Captain America and Metal Arm Guy, this one's different. But Sam -- Mr. Wilson? -- he already knew about... about everything. Or asked about it? |
(He shakes his head, brow furrowed a little.) |
PETER: Doesn't matter. He knew, and he knew because there was someone else like me in his world. Same name and everything. He also mentioned some... anthropomorphic pig by the name of Spider-Ham who has a similar story. I probably shoulda seen this coming, but I didn't. Especially not the part where I might be a pig in another reality. |
(He sighs again, looking off toward the rain drenched city.) |
PETER: This city's kinda like Manhattan but not. It's like someone saw pictures of Manhattan and tried to recreate it, but they didn't have all the gaps filled in so they just inserted whatever into the holes to fill it up. And then they grabbed random figurines from all over the place to fill up this weird dollhouse of a planet. |
(A laugh, though there's no humor in it.) |
PETER: Metal Arm Guy is here, and so are so many others I know and others I don't. And the ones I do seem to know me. Even some of the ones I don't seem to. Like Carol. Does she know a me from another reality, or does she know me from my reality? She mentioned Nick Fury, but what if there are multiple Nick Furys? Mathmatically, it makes sense. But staring it in the face is differrent, you know? |
LIGHTNING STRETCHES ACROSS THE SKY FOLLOWED BY ANOTHER CLAP OF THUNDER. |
(He glances at the sky, momentarily distracted by the lightning, waiting out the thunder as it rumbles and stops.) |
PETER: I still can't breathe. I'm trying not to think about it, but I can't not. And then I wonder if this is why Mr. Stark -- Tony -- is acting weird. Is this why he hugged me? Did he know I exist in other dimensions? Or is it something else? Oh yeah-- |
(He chuckles.) |
PETER: Mr. Stark is here. And he wants me to call him Tony! I-I don't know what to make of that. Is he an alternate version of himself who knows his version of me? |
(He shakes his head, pushing the hoodie off his head as he runs a hand through his hair, mussing it up.) |
PETER: I don't hink he is. An alternate version of himself, I mean. It's just... a lot, you know? I know people, and I'm meeting people, but... May's not here. I don't know if she's okay or not. I don't know if Ned and everyone else is, either. I don't know if I want them here, but I want to know they're okay. I want to know they're safe. |
(He's quiet for awhile, staring off into some middle distance.) |
PETER: (softly) I don't know what I'm supposed to do. |
(A few minutes pass before he finally presses the stop button on the phone.) |
