Riri Williams
Tony Stark
Who: Riri Williams and Tony Stark
What: Meeting for the first time (for Tony, anyway)
Where: The Roof of Stark Industries
When: Backdated-- Friday Nov 30th
It had started out as a pretty average day for Riri. She hadn't been called away by SHIELD, or asked to visit Wakanda. Even The Forum that day had been pretty quiet. It was fine for Riri, because that meant that she could do what she loved doing-- protecting Chicago. It was the reason she had built her first suit in the first place, so she could protect the lower neighborhoods from the violence that plagued them. She had been flying high, swooped through a low hanging cloud and... wound up in New York?

Then FRIDAY bugged out, and honestly, Riri tried to keep calm. It wasn't the first time something weird had happened to her after all (though, usually she wasn't so alone). She had gotten some ground data from her suit, but none of it really made any sense. Like it was scrambled or missing pieces, because she knew what the data set from New York should look like, but this seemed way too small.

It wasn't until people started answering her accidentaly upload that things began to make sense. She'd found some sort of dimensional gate. Alright. She could work with that. But even talking to the people who were... different then the ones she was used to got weird. Especially when it came to talking to Tony. She'd only known in-person Tony for a couple of months, and only had his AI to compare him to.

It didn't take Riri long at all to loop around to the Stark Industries building. It had a similiar feel to the Stark Solutions building at least, and she frowned a little bit thinking about her lab sitting there untouched, wondering if Rescue and Tony AI would start looking for her. And her mother, her gut tightened, thinking about how worried her mother would be.

She landed on the building, but didn't shed her armor, not yet anyway. She didn't really know what she was dealing with yet, and what if this new world Tony wasn't as friendly as she thought him to be? After all, she knew what could happen with clones, and she shuttered to think about Captain America's doppleganger again. Still, she told FRIDAY to make her mask clear, and the armor listened, removing the color pigman from her helmet so that her face could be visible through it.

Now, all she had to do was wait.

"It wasn't to impress you," Riri told him honestly, but didnt elaborate on the fact that she had kept her armor on in case she needed to fight. She looked at his armor carefully, it looked somewhat akin to one of his out dated models, but that made sense if he didn't even know about the war.

A simple command and the armor that surrounded her dispersed, seeming to cook carefully into a gauntlet that she wore on her left arm. She moved forward and stuck out her hand. "I'm Ironheart, or Riri."

Tony raised his eyebrows as she sent her armor back. It was strange seeing technology like his used by someone he didn't know. Or, at least, this version of him didn't know. Still, he could only imagine how strange it was for her seeing him. She appeared young, around Pete's age. "Hi, Riri," he said. "Totally weird, huh?" He grinned. "You'll get used to it. Cool superhero name."

"My sister came up with it, when I was still at MIT." Riri told him with a slight shrug of her shoulders. She was still taking him in, he was so different from the AI version (which was to be expected) but didn't look nearly as worn and grey as Sorcerer Supreme Tony Either.

She wrapped her arms over her chest, not sure what to say to him really. She had questions, naturally, but her mind was racing so fast that she couldn't quite nab the words to ask them.

"So, what's up with this place I guess?" She asked, and as she did so, moved to sit criss-cross on the roof. It seemed like they would be there for a while.

"MIT, huh?" Tony always approved of people attending his Alma mater. He watched her, well, look closed off for a minute before she sat. He gave her space, but joined her in taking a seat. "Seems like some sort of alternate dimension that defies all natural law. Magical law too." He chuckled. "It is not so bad. We have some blips occasionally, but it is a good place for some of us who don't have homes or..." He let that thought sit. "It is a good place to be if someone can't go back to their own reality." He frowned then. "But you have your mom," he said, recalling her board post. "My theory -and it seems to hold true- is that we are both here and still at home so she won't miss you." He cringed inwardly. Maybe not the most comforting thought for the girl. "Not that you won't miss her, unfortunately," he quickly added. He then continued to talk about how he, Cisco, Sam, and a few others were researching the city. "Anything else you want to know?" he finished.

"Yeah, MIT," Riri said with a large, proud grin. She rolled her shoulders though, "Dropped out though after I built my first suit… uh… they were probably going to expel me anyway for working on unapproved projects." It was worth it though, Riri knew what she was doing and she didnt need a degree to prove that.

"Falcon… er… Sam said that there were some data sets to look at, from different dimensions. I know my suit was probably taking readings when we crossed in. So I was thinking I could compare them and see if there is a causation." Shr shrugged her shoulders again.

"It's crazy, thinking that I can be here and there at the same time. We have had our issues with clones and doppelgangers before and it always turned up wrong." She explained a little bit.

"I guess it must be weird to find out about another version of you as well. Do you jave any questions?"

Tony chuckled. He found her obvious pride in the suit and inventions endearing. He couldn't say he faulted her for dropping out; it sounded like she surpassed her teachers. Tony could relate.

"More than welcome to be another set of eyes and ears with us," he replied. "We get close, but something is blocking us. I still can't tell if the entity is deliberately messing with us or just making mistakes." He shrugged. "I don't think we're clones so much as...an extension of our other selves. If we were ripped out, our timelines would be affected, but, so far, they are not." He he held his hands out in a "who knows" gesture. "I just want to stabilize the magic so we have a choice about whether we stay or go," he admitted. "And, yeah, go on, tell me. I already know about other versions of me so one more won't hurt."

“I would like that, I think. Probably wont find anything that you didn’t, but I know that my suit picked up things when it came through the rift or whatever we are calling it. And your suit did. And there are probably a couple of other things that did too?” It was more of a thinking out loud moment, not particularly expecting an answer from the older man.

“Uh. I guess I don’t know what to say about it really.” Riri said, “Before the war, I sort of built my suit off of some specs I found of one of your old suits online. And when you showed up on my door, I thought you were going to like… sue me for copyright or something, but instead you asked me to help you and you gave me an even better suit to help you against Captain Marvel.”

“It uh… well, it went sort of pear shaped and you went into a coma, but Beast put you in a stasis pod, and is trying to figure out how to wake you back up,” Riri frowned a little bit, “But like… I don’t know, you knew something was going to happen somehow, because a few days later a package arrived at Stark Solutions, and inside was a AI version of yourself that you made so that you could continue to help me. Rescue came and gave it to me, and then she and your mom let me and Stark AI have your lab space so we could build things.”

Her story reminded him of his experience with Peter and Cap, but he kept quiet as she spoke. Apparently he liked kids in multiple universes. What, was it four different versions of him dealing with them across multiple universes now? "Well," he finally said, "I'm glad I'm around for you in some fashion. I have to admit it is kind of cool thinking I'm an AI after spending so much time creating them." His smile faltered as he zoned in on something she said. "Wait, my mom. She is...she is available in your time? What about my dad?"

“You’re AI is pretty neat.” She didn’t feel the need to mention the down side of it all, if this Tony wasn’t going to be the AI and so why should he have to worry about what the lack of humanity would do to someone. “Uh…. well, crap.” How could she explain it to him when she didn’t even know if it was the same.

“Well,” Riri paused for a moment, “you’re biological mother, Ms. Amanda Armstrong, She uh… officially owns Stark Solutions because the Board of Directors didn’t think it was appropriate for a company to be run by an AI. But uh… as far as I know, any other parent you have is uh… no longer around. I’m sorry.’

"Bio---" He paused. "You know what? None of that matters, right? Different universe." So long as said "biological" mother didn't show, of course. It wasn't lost on him that whatever father he had, Howard or not, was still a deadbeat. Or, he assumed. He guessed he could be dead too. Or a deadbeat and dead. He nearly laughed at the wordplay running through his mind. "Anyway, Pepper is Rescue in your universe. You seemed surprised we are married here."

“Yeah,” Riri said nodding at him. What did it matter, right? She tried to smile reassuringly at the man in front of her. “Yeah. Pepper is Rescue, every since they had to put that thing in her chest.” Riri shrugged her shoulder, “I came after her husband died, but he had a weird name like Lucky or Happy or something. And she had some kids with him.”

"She and Happy had kids?" Tony blurted. "Fucking hell." He grimaced. "Sorry, kid, language and all that, I know." He patted her shoulder. "Just took me by surprise, but, again, different universe." Except now he was wondering if Happy harbored a secret crush on Pepper in his reality. Okay, that was dumb. Obviously not. That man carried around Tony's engagement ring for how many years? "Anyway, tell me about you. I want to hear about your life, get to know you. Crash course in Riri."

"I'm from South Chicago, you think a little language is going to bother me?" She laughed a little. "Uh.. alright. I was named after my father Demetrius, because everyone thought he had died in a gas station robbery gone wrong (turns out he just used it to ditch us and became his evil self, but more on that never)." She made a sour face at the thought of her father, "I grew up in Chicago, was a terrible child and got in a bit of trouble, started building robots in my moms garage when I was four-- basic household helpers and stuff, and that sort of spread to me making all sorts of robots to help the people in my neighborhood... which wasn't a very good neighborhood if you know what i mean. I graduated high school at fourteen, and was accepted into MIT. Before I went I lost both my step-dad and my best friend to gang related violence in a drive by shooting. Thats when I got the idea you know, to build a robot to protect the neighborhood from hoodlums like that... and that is when I came across one of your older designs ... it wasn't complete and it took almost a year to reverse engineer everything while I had access to the MIT labs, but then they caught me working on unauthorized and "potentially dangerous" things, and so I fled cause I was like I could totally save my neighborhood from thugs. And then I sort of did for a while, until you came to ask me for help with the War." Riri nodded a bit, "Since then I've been Ironheart. I was also the last Monarch of Latvia, until I transferred them over to a Democratic election process."
