WHO: Jasmine and Harry
WHEN: Sunday morning
WHERE: The park
WHAT: A random run in!
RATING: PG

Winter time in New York was somewhere that Jasmine had never expected to be. For one, it was far colder than she expected. Growing up in the desert, it never got cold enough to need a jacket, let alone winter gear. Snow was only something she ready about in books. Yet, Jasmine found she didn't get bothered as much by the cold as expected. Winter was a new adventure in her time in this place.

"Do you know how to use these?" Jasmine asked a passerby as she held up the ice skates. Someone had mentioned ice skating to her before and she had never tried it. It seemed rather difficult to balance on such a thin piece of metal, but everyone seemed like they were enjoying it. She wanted to give it a try. "Someone told me I should try it so... here I am."

Hope's suggestion that he was collecting Lost Boys, or Lost Girls, was annoying in the fact that he couldn't fully deny the claim. Harry had always had a soft spot for kids. Sure, on the Isle he had been Uma's enforcer and shook down kids working at their parent's shop, but he had never taken more than they could afford. Plus, there was no real proof, but he had left them food if they were looking too thin. Here? He couldn't help feeling the pull to protect kids still. He was caught in his thoughts about Bubbled and Buttercup when a voice pulled his attention. He pulled his cup of coffee away from his mouth as he glanced towards the girl asking him something. His gaze flickered to the skates and then to the rink.

"Ye wear em and then try not to fall on yer face," he drawled out as he moved closer to her. He took another sip of the coffee as he studied the skates in her hands. "Lace em snug. How's your balance? Skating takes a lot of balance and grace to do it well." Harry was used to keeping his balance on heaving ships with wet decks, but ice skating wasn't something normally done on the Isle. He may have watched a movie or so about the activity though in his boredom.

"Good on ye," he saluted her with his to-go cup of coffee. "Trying new things."

Jasmine had to laugh softly because something told her that doing that without falling, was going to be easier said than done. Not that she minded the challenge as it would give her something to focus on. The adventure of being in a new place had been fun at first, but now it was just how things were. This place, whatever it is, wasn't bad at all.

"Good enough," she told him as she pulled the laces extra tight on the skates. "I mean I used to walk around on all kinds of things back home, especially as a kid." Back then it had just been fun and games, but it was good for the balance.

"Do you like to try new things?"

Harry leaned against the outside of the rink wall as he sipped his coffee. An eyebrow shot upward as she talked about her childhood. He wasn't entirely sure that was the same as ice skating, but it might help.

"Mm," he mulled the question over for a moment. "Aye. I grew up rather...restricted. Trying new things is a awfully big adventure," he said in a slightly mocking tone. Peter Pan was an idiot, but he did know adventure when he looked at it. Harry couldn't fault the twat for that. He glanced down at the skates she was wearing and cocked his head to the side slightly.

"Ye are going it alone? Brave of you." This wasn't quite what he had been expecting to do on his day off from the police department, but it was slightly entertaining. If he stuck around long enough he could probably watch a few people eat ice.

Jasmine nodded because she knew what it was like to grow up having restrictions. As the princess, her father had limited her activities to books or rather tried to. She had always had a skill for sneaking out and getting into things she shouldn't. While her mom had been alive she had laughed and called it just being a kid, but after her death, there was no such thing as foolish folly around her father. Just safe and boring activities.

"I like to think bravery is one of my more defining qualities," Jasmine joked with a laugh. "Besides, if we are afraid of doing things alone we'll miss out on a lot." She paused a moment. "I never asked your name, I'm Jasmine."

"Well, when ye put it that way. Gotta take that leap of faith, aye? At least this is ice skating and not swimming with sharks. Though, I do enjoy that." Harry raised his cup to her again before taking a swig. At least the bird had a sense of humor and some sense.

"Hook," he offered up as he flashed her a smile. "A pleasure ta meet your acquaintance, Jasmine." The way he said her name was almost purring. He glanced towards the ice rink and wondered faintly if he should give it a go.

This was the type of place he might take Mal. It would be a laugh to see her flail while learning to skate. Harry had a wicked streak and watching Mal ice skate seemed up his alley.

Jasmine nodded. "Isn't life just one big leap of faith?" One that she had always told her father he needed to take, but he had wanted to play it safe. Not that Jasmine blamed him, it was easy considering her mother's death, but they couldn't live their life afraid. "You swim with sharks?"

"I take it you're not one to go ice skate? Doubt you'll find many sharks around here outside an aquarium."
