Log: Rey & OTA
WHO: Rey & OTA
WHERE: A quiet spot in central park.
WHEN: Afternoon, sometime.
WHAT: Rey tries not to think about things changing, and attempts to practice Jedi-ing. (come talk to her! Interrupt!)

It wasn’t the first time it’d happened. It was maybe a few months ago now, that Luke had disappeared and then reappeared again, only to not remember who she was. It wasn’t so bad the first time - they’d only just met. But now, this Luke had become someone that Rey cared for, and trusted and was learning so much from - she had finally begun to learn what this was inside of her, this power that she didn’t understand, and originally had in some ways, been scared of. Luke might’ve been younger than the older, Jedi Master she’d only stood before for minutes before she was brought to this world, but he had still been able to change that for her. Teach her.

Bad things had happened in Goodland, the Maze had been the most dangerous of them, or so Rey had decided. What had occurred most recently was ..confusing and painful in an entirely different way to the injuries sustained from the Maze. She wasn’t the only one with someone who didn’t remember her, and some were even currently trying to take care of their much younger siblings, family and friends. Some now, were returning to normal, and she was holding her breath, waiting for Luke to return to who he had been before and for things to be as they were before this aging nonsense began.

Rey was used to solitude, and adept at survival. People left, that was the reality of things; didn't make how it felt any easier, and worse it only made her fear that she had more to lose, in this world. The learning Jedi hadn't given up on her training entirely, she’d just ..go about it herself, based on what she’d taken in so far. So, she found herself a spot in the park, sheltered and a bit quieter. Sitting down she placed down her staff and her bag, wriggling on the spot to make sure she was comfortable. The girl attempted to slow her breathing, and reach a meditative state, pushing out with the Force to cause the smaller stones, and debris from the tree above to start to float from the ground.

Eleven didn't really know what to think about the recent age fiasco. She remembered being younger, trying to take Eggos from the store. Tony had intercepted her before she'd used her powers to take what she wanted. She honestly hadn't known any better, though. Papa hadn't taught her about stores and buying things.

Now that she was a bit older again, and a little more aware of how the world worked, she wasn't as likely to go to the store and try to take Eggos. She didn't consider it stealing when she honestly didn't know she was supposed to pay for them. And she hadn't stolen them in any case, Tony had bought them for her.

From the first day she'd arrived in Goodland, Tony had made sure she had her Eggos. She was finishing up one as she walked, enjoying the weather, and the freedom. She didn't have to hide in Goodland. There wasn't anyone in town that wanted to exploit her for her abilities. Tony was really the only one who knew she had them.

No one else needed to know, and as long as she didn't use them to steal Eggos, and there wasn't a Demigorgon or a Mindflayer to defeat, she didn't really need to use them. Especially since she couldn't find Mike with her remote viewing. She might use her telekinesis from time, but that would be it.

And just as she was thinking about it, she noticed someone in the park who appeared to be moving small rocks and leaves with her mind. Eleven stopped and watched for a moment. She wasn't trying to be rude, or intrude, but she was fascinated by what she was seeing.

Rey could sense someone else was there - Luke had been teaching her these things, and there was so much to learn; to sense when something was a threat, to understand the Force signatures she knew what they meant, how the Light, could feel different from the Dark. You could reach out, even miles and miles apart and know someone was alive, and safe and the person you knew. And when Luke changed, he was still Luke, Rey felt like Luke’s signature the same as it had always been. He just didn’t know who she was.

She didn’t know this person, but she knew she had nothing to worry about - there was nothing to be feared, nothing Dark. But there was something different about her from others, just that she couldn’t tell what it was. Rey nearly made a mental note to ask Luke about that - before she reminded herself for the umpteenth time, that she wouldn’t be going to Luke to ask those things, she didn’t need to. She’d be fine learning alone, practicing alone. She wouldn’t get upset if he changed, again.

Rey’s eyes opened, and she tilted her head with a smile to peer at the younger girl hovering nearby, the little objects that were raised from the ground fell back, no longer being lifted by the energy of the Force. “Hello-” She greeted, her smile still fixed to show she’d not been troubled by the interruption at all - if anything she was a little glad for it. “It’s a nice afternoon to be out- isn’t it?”

When Rey acknowledge her, Eleven moved closer to her. She was curious. She didn't think there was anyone else in Goodland from Hawkins, but she had to know if this person had a number tattooed on her arm. She recognised the fact it was possible there might be people with special powers like hers who hadn't been at the lab. It was unlikely, but possible Papa hadn't found them all.

"The sun is bright," Eleven commented. She'd the entirety of her life until the age of 12 inside the lab. The sun didn't bother her so much, but she was very aware of its bright glare. "But it is nice."

She attempted to peer at Rey's arm, where her own tattoo was. Kali's had been in the same place, so she reasoned if she had one, it would be there. She saw nothing where she expected the numbers to be.

"How did you do that? With the rocks," she asked.

"There was snow not so long ago-" Rey's nose wrinkled a little, the sun might be bright, but being raised on a desert planet made her ill-equipped for coldness that sharp. It was hard not to be reminded of Starkiller base, in the snow.

"Oh- where I'm from it's called the Force." Rey wasn't so quick to get to her feet, the shade of the tree was pleasant enough and she stayed seated, wondering if the girl would join her, if not Rey would certainly leave her spot. Rey wasn’t as hesitant as she had been at first, in this new world, things were so different, there weren’t others like her so much, aside from the Solo family. But, she had learned there were many different abilities here. She wouldn’t have to hide.

Rey's wrists and arm could be seen well enough, she wasn't wearing her bracer, nothing at all to be seen there, no number, no tattoo.

"It's ..sort of like an energy, that's in everything around us, and ourselves. Some people, have-” She paused, how to word it? Explain it when she was just learning these things herself, understanding what was within her, on her own terms. “They have a sensitivity to it. The ability to use and manipulate that energy. Maybe it’s moving objects, sometimes it’s sensing others.” Perhaps she’d rambled a little, but again - she was getting something a little different from this girl. "I'm trying to understand it." She added, with a twinge of hopefulness in her tone.

"I can do it too," she stated. She wasn't so demonstrative with her abilities. She wasn't sure who she could trust in this place. She trusted Tony, but she didn't really know anyone else well enough.

She focused on a single rock, and raised it from the ground. She didn't usually bother with anything so small, but there was no challenge in it for her at all. After a moment, she let the rock fall back to the ground.

"I am learning I don't have to hide my abilities here." She was intrigued by the fact Rey had no tattoo. But she knew people here weren't from the same place as her. Maybe they had a different way of marking and tracking special people where Rey was from.

"Impressive." Rey noted, her words perfectly genuine, it did look rather effortless to a girl who was certainly younger than she was. "Is it something you've always been able to do?" she wondered, it seemed that way with the Force, provided you were trained.

"You're right. You don't have to hide here." Rey thought about that a moment though, a small smile surfacing, an encouraging sort of expression. "But- you also don't have to tell anyone if you don't want to either." It could stay something the girl kept to herself, if she preferred, only known by some. Rey felt she was somewhere in between, not hiding it, nor so quick to broadcast. It was something she possessed, but it wouldn’t define her entirely.

"It's- not really something that had to be hidden where I'm from. I just I didn’t know that it was real, or that I could do it.” She paused, expression creasing thoughtfully. What about people like Kylo Ren? “I guess, there are some people that would want to use the Force for the wrong reasons, to do terrible things, to exploit it because it can be powerful.”

She realised she probably didn’t want to talk about the Darkside so much. “I’m Rey.” She offered.

"That's what Tony said. That I don't have to hide, but I don't have to tell people either. It's my choice." Which was kind of a novelty for her. She'd been able to make some choices in the last couple of years, but most of her life had been controlled by other people. Hopper had at least set the rules to help her and keep her safe, unlike Dr Brenner who had only wanted to use her.

"That was Papa. He used me, made me use my powers for bad things." She didn't even really know the scope of it. But she knew it wasn't good. Nothing Dr Brenner made her do was good. She knew enough.

"I'm El," she said.

Her Papa? The girl’s eyes turned sympathetic as she watched her. "I guess it's difficult to find a world where that doesn't have people who think that way." Rey agreed, as her expression creased, easily troubled by such a thought. "Though I haven't met anyone here like that. Just people who want to help." She'd not been used to that, or willing to trust it at first, it was confusing.

"Nice to meet you El. Most of the people I've met here are through Stark Industries-" She enjoyed her work there, and the like-minded people who had just a fascination for tech and engineering like she did.

"-And It's safer here than any place I've ever been." It was clear Rey had put thought into this, she'd taken her time getting to know Goodland. Though Rey felt the need to be honest too. "Most of the time anyway." The Maze was well behind them, and Rey thought it better to leave it there. "Sometimes weird things happen- uh, how long have you been here?"

"I have been here a couple weeks." Long enough to have been twelve again, arriving in Goodland immediately after Benny's death in Hawkins. She'd rapidly aged a year, and now she was back to her normal fourteen. At least she assumed it was her normal age because she didn't remember being any older.

"Stark Industries. Tony's name is Stark." Tony had been one of the first people to sort of look after her. He made sure she had the Eggos she liked so much. She appreciated that, and considered Tony to be a friend.
