Who: Lincoln Campbell & Daisy Johnson
Where: Their apartment
When: After this
What: Post-traumatic decompression
Status: Closed/On-going
Warnings: Trigger warnings for alcoholism, death and trauma

Since he and Morgan got out of the maze Lincoln had buried his head in his doctorly duties. Trying to distract himself from the things that he'd be going home to when, eventually, exhaustion hit and he couldn't go on. It was inevitable that it would happen, but he had to keep going for the sake of his sanity. Luckily (for him) there were more than enough traumas to deal with after people escaped from the maze and he kept his head down until his phone chirped a tone he hadn't thought he'd hear again.

Daisy.

She was alive. She was safe.

He felt the last of his energy rush out of him in a single breath. Daisy was alive!

Lincoln was on his way home as quickly as he could get away, with the promise that she wouldn't move. He wouldn't believe it till he saw her with his own eyes, the image of her dead in the car was still foremost in his mind.

As he stepped into their apartment there was still doubt in his mind that the nightmare was over, but he called out to her in the hope she'd answer. "Daisy? you here?" and if she didn't answer? Lincoln would cross that bridge when he came to it.

Daisy didn't move from her spot on her bed. She really wasn't in the mood to be out in the real world at the moment. She needed to decompress and have a little me-time before going back out there again.

She placed her phone down on the nightstand after her last message to Lincoln was sent. She didn't feel like talking anymore.

"In here," she called out when she heard Lincoln. "See, I told you I wasn't going anywhere," she said once he stepped foot into her room.

He gave a small smile as Daisy's voice radiated through the apartment and Lincoln followed the sound to her bedroom. "Just because you said you weren't going anywhere didn't mean there might not be an emergency somewhere," he said as he moved over and sat on the bed. "It's so good to see you, I can't even begin to tell you," he told her reaching for her hand.

Right now he still couldn't quite trust his senses and to know it really was Daisy, he needed to touch her and gently slipped his hand into hers. "Didn't think I'd ever see you again," Lincoln said it a harsh whisper. He didn't know how to explain to her what he'd dealt with, or if he should mention what he'd seen in the maze. Knowing she'd been there too hurt his heart, especially given what she'd said on the web. Lincoln wanted to ask her about it, but didn't know if she'd want to talk about it.

"Someone else can deal with the emergency...if one came up." She really wasn't leaving this apartment today. "Glad you came home," she said with a small smile of her own.

"Surprise, here I am. Forever stuck with me." She was trying to make light of what happened and how it was making them feel. This whole being down because of the shit that had been in the maze sucked. She wanted happy go lucky good times back. She grabbed a hold of his hand when he placed his in hers and didn't let go. "You're not going back to the hospital tonight, are you?"

"That's the spirit," Lincoln said as he watched her carefully, not wanting to overstep the mark but also wanting, more than anything, to comfort Daisy. "Where else would I be?" he asked with a shy smile.

"Forever? That's a pretty big word," though he was more than happy to go with it. Lincoln would rather be stuck with her in this world than be parted from her in theirs. When she took his hand he slid closer, switching hands and slipping his arm around her shoulders and pulling her into a tight hug. "I'm not going anywhere tonight," he told her softly. "I don't want to be anywhere else and I don't think you want me to either," he said resting his chin on the top of her head. "It was bad, huh?"

"I know it is, but I mean it. You like the sound of forever anyway, don't lie." She leaned into him when moved down beside her. She rested her head on his chest and an arm around his middle. "Good. And you're right, I want you right here." She closed her eyes for a moment and took in a deep breath. Yeah, she could stay like this forever. "It was. Seeing you there was the cherry on top. I never want to see anything like that again. Real or fake."

"It's a good word," he answered gently kissing her hair as he pulled her close. It felt like the longest time since they'd been this close. Emotionally, anyway. Lincoln only hoped Daisy wasn't saying this because of her experiences in the maze. He wanted them back the way they'd been before Hive had come into their lives, but he'd come to the conclusion it wasn't possible. Daisy had lost too much to go backwards. It didn't mean there wasn't a way forwards, though.

"I saw you in the maze too," Lincoln whispered into her hair. "In the car accident," which he knew Daisy would understand without going into more details. "I couldn't do anything," he said feeling a pang of the despair he'd felt and tightening his hold on his girl. "I went in to find you and I thought I'd lost you for good. I couldn't bear it." Lincoln had just wanted to curl up and die - or worse - but he had been interrupted. "So, yeah, forever sounds pretty damn good to me too."

Daisy glanced up at Lincoln when he mentioned that he saw her in the maze. And that the maze had messed with him in that way. She didn't need the details. She understood what it tried playing at when it came to him. "I'm sorry it did that to you." He didn't deserve it. Then again none of them deserved the hell they lived through in that fucking maze. "You have lost me. I'm still here. And I don't plan on going anywhere." The Entity would have to ship her back home. That was the only way she would ever leave Lincoln's side. "We should try thinking about other things. I don't want to let this thing eat away at us anymore. It's had enough power over us."

He held her close, gently nodding. There'd been enough shitty moments in his life that the maze could have focused on, but somehow it knew exactly how to fuck with him in the worst way. "It was trying to make me drink," Lincoln whispered the confession. The one thing he'd thought he'd got beaten had suddenly driven to the forefront of his brain once more. "I didn't do it, but I wanted to so much," and the reason he was telling her was so Daisy would know if and when he slipped. As much as he wanted not to dwell on the maze and be grateful for what he had right here and now, he couldn't hide that.

Lincoln tilted her chin towards him and smiled. "We're in it for the long-haul, huh? I don't think it was ever any other way," at least in his mind. Daisy had needed time to get through her grief and surprise at his return but it felt like something in her had shifted. "So, if I were to kiss you right now, would it take your mind off the maze a little?" he asked with a suggestively raised eyebrow.

She was surprised to hear that the maze tried to get him to drink. She knew it was making people see things, but to actually get them to do certain things? She thinks he's the first. "I'm sorry it did that to you. But I'm also proud of you that you didn't do it."

She looked up at him and smiled. "Yes." She was done processing and waiting to see if something bad happens. The maze made her realize that she was wasting time. And she didn't want to do that anymore. "Hmm, I don't know. Let's find out." She leaned up and kissed him.

He felt as if a huge weight were lifted now that Daisy knew what he'd dealt with. "It was close," Lincoln replied, knowing that if Morgan hadn't needed his help he might still be there staring at the bottle. Or drinking from it. He was out now, though, and didn't want to go back to that place in his mind.

Lincoln had waited a long time to see Daisy smile at him like that and when she kissed him there was part of him wondering if this was some other kind of dream. Hell, if it was he would happily go with it. "This, I can get used to," he told her as he kissed her back. "I've missed you, Daisy Johnson, with all my heart," Lincoln said pulling her gently into his lap. "Also have a few ideas how to take our minds off the maze now," he grinned.

"You still didn't do it, though," she pointed out.

"I think I can get used to it too." She easily moved from laying beside him to straddling his lap. "I've missed you too. You have no idea how much I've missed you." She grinned right back. "Oh yeah? Maybe you should show me these ideas of yours."

"If I'd known a deadly maze with all our worst nightmares was all it took to get close to you, I'd have ordered one from the entity months ago," Lincoln told her between tender kisses. He was joking, clearly, but that Daisy was saying the words he'd wished for every day was like a dream come true. Almost worth the torture of the maze if this was his reward.

Lincoln wrapped his arms tightly around her, pulling her tightly against him. "I think you missing me and my ideas could go together and make something beautiful," he whispered in her ear as he pulled away just to look at Daisy for a moment. "The fire in your eyes is back," he said with an approving nod, "I've missed that more than anything." He slipped off his jacket and curled against her tightly, happy for his hands to be back on the woman he loved more than life.

"I'll remember that when something evil gets thrown at us again." Which she had a feeling this wasn't the last time something bad would get thrown at them. It had seemed like the evil had escalated each time it showed up. She didn't even want to think about what was coming next.

"Yeah? Well, I'm done holding back. It's time to live again." She had held back long enough. Now she just wanted to be with Lincoln as much as possible since they had no idea how long they actually had together. She glanced over her shoulder before hopping off the bed. She shut the bedroom door, locked it and then practically pounced Lincoln once she made her way back to the bed. "I think it's time we made up for all the lost time."

Lincoln shook his head and chuckled, "I think we've pretty much proven we can find a way through anything," he said kissing the tip of her nose. "We're a team," he told her, giving Daisy a gentle squeeze and feeling that they really were a team for the first time since they arrived here.

"You are singing my tune there!" Lincoln replied at her words. He hated feeling that they'd wasted time since arriving here, especially knowing what waited for him back in their world. Living in the moment seemed like an excellent plan and as Daisy dealt with the door he slipped off his shirt. "We can make up for time a lot, right? Cause once I get you back I'm not sure I'm going to want to let you go," Lincoln said as he took her hand and laced his fingers through hers. "You are the best thing that ever happened to me, Daisy," he said drawing her back on to the bed. "Whatever happens here I'll never stop loving you," he kissed her tenderly and pulled her close.
