Burger Time!

It is Double Cheeseburger Day! Tony ordered a food truck for the building. It is parked in front of Ostrich's Villa from 5pm to 7pm. Menu consists of burgers, cheeseburgers, veggie burgers, black bean burgers, regular fries, sweet potato fries, and non-alcoholic drinks.

[Feel free to write IC/OOC in the comments. It could be a good way to run into characters who don't normally interact!]

Tony enjoyed choosing "national" holidays with Peter. They mostly chose silly ones, although there were a few serious ones, like the one he chose in honor of Rhodey. It started as a joke, but Tony liked spending time with Peter and hoped they could choose a few days each month. It was also a fun way to get to know the neighbors better. He wasn't used to living in such close proximity to strangers; it seemed smart to know them, especially in such an odd reality. Plus he loved cheeseburgers.

Tony felt responsible for making sure everything went smoothly so he remained outside for the entire two hours.

School was most unsettling, but it was hardly the worst thing she had ever been subjected to in her life. Klara was not a fan of most of her classmates, but she would adjust with time. Maybe. She was trying not to think about that as she focused on the container of sweet potato fries in her hands. The poor fries were covered in mayo and ketchup, not that she had tried them with the strange mixture yet, and they looked questionable. Why were the fries orange? Were they honestly sweet?

Klara pursed her lips into a line as she walked, not looking where she was going, and somehow managed to stop inches from walking straight into Tony Stark. She blinked slowly and tilted her head back so she could stare up at the man. A look of confusion appeared on her face that was followed by panic. Her trust issues still had not quite been overcome and the sight of Tony made her freak out ever so slightly. The plants closest to them grew a few sizes bigger and she panicked harder. Klara flailed, the container in her hand leaping free into the air.

Klara was a little ashamed to admit a naughty word in German escaped her in a moment of weakness. (It wasn't like most people knew what she was saying so it was hardly like she was actually being a hypocrite.) She looked at the handful of fallen fries on the sidewalk with a look of pure sadness.

"My fries..."

Tony noticed a few newcomers near the truck so he was heading toward them when he nearly crashed into a young girl. Molly or Klara? He had spoken to them over the web-board, but didn't know either by sight. He just knew they were the youngest in the building so far. "Oh, sorry," he started to say when he thought he saw some plants suddenly expand. However, her exclamation quickly caught his attention again. She appeared nervous, which made him feel badly even if he couldn't control what he did in every dimension.

"Oh, no big deal, sweetheart. We can get you some more. And look..." He gestured toward some birds, who swooped down to eat the fallen goods. "You made those birds pretty damn happy." Fuck. The "damn" slipped out. He really needed to watch his mouth around kids. "I'm Tony." He made sure to smile and speak softly; he wanted to put her at ease.

Her nose wrinkled as words slipped from her mouth before she could stop herself. "Language," she blurted out as her cheeks colored. Klara just couldn't seem to stop the knee jerk reaction to telling people to watch their mouth. "But...yes. Birds. Happy." Klara's voice was soft and she had taken to staring down at Tony's shoes instead of his face.

She knelt down to pick her fallen container. Littering was never a good thing. The fries could stay, but the container needed to go into the proper waste disposal basket. There was a clear moment where she remained crouch, something anyone would have picked up on, before she finally let out a sigh. Klara stood up again but went back to staring at Tony's shoes.

"Klara," she finally offered as she shrank in on herself slightly. It wasn't all because he was Tony Stark. No, quite a bit of it had to do with the fact he was an adult and someone she didn't really know. She crinkled the edges of her container in her fingers as she debated making a run for it. Except running would probably be rude now that they had exchanged names... "I didn't mean to waste the food."

Tony chuckled at her reprimand. He needed to start a swear jar or something. "Nice to formally meet you, Klara. Thanks for picking up the container," he replied. He realized she took extra time grabbing it, which increased his desire to make her feel okay. "It is not going to waste," he added. "Birds need to eat too." He nodded toward the truck. "Let's get you some more."

Her fingers dug into the container until it got a few fissures in it and Klara drag her gaze to what she had done. She glanced from her hands to the fries and screwed her lips to the side. The birds did seem happy, which meant the fries weren't going to waste. "I guess," she finally hazarded softly before finally shifting her gaze to about chest height on him. Her brows knit together at the remark about getting more fries. The young Wonder managed to finally glance up at Tony's face again.

There was that feeling of unease again, but she managed to not turn around and run.

"Are you sure it is okay? I don't want to anger anyone," her voice never really reached anything higher than a loud whisper, but it wasn't like it was super loud out.

Tony wondered what sort of life she had in her reality since she asked such a question. He recalled she and Molly were afraid of being placed in an orphanage and/or with foster parents. Did they know their own parents? Tony forced the dark thoughts from his mind so he could focus on the girl in front of him. Had she been one of his kids, he'd take her chin in his hand, but instead he only continued to smile down at her for whenever she peeked up at him. "No one will get angry." He was glad he could look her in the eyes when he made that promise, but made sure not to let his gaze linger too long. "There is plenty to go around. I made sure of it." He knew there were various people with powers and abilities who needed extra food so he made sure to accommodate. Besides, did Tony Stark ever not overdo things? "I can go with you if you like."

If Tony had actually reached out to touch her there would suddenly be vines everywhere, so it was probably a good thing that the Man of Iron went the intelligent route. Klara ran that idea over in her head. If he was telling the truth than she didn't need his assistance to get more fries and maybe a sugary beverage, but if he was lying she could use him to be a sort of diplomat to the adults. Though, she supposed he could be telling the truth and just wanted to help her. So far Tony Stark hadn't done anything to show he was like the one from her world. "Fine," she said with all the seriousness of a child forced to grow up too fast. "But I want a sugar drink as well. I have cut back on the chocolate milk and I deserve the sugar drink."

Klara raced over to a trash can and popped the container inside of it before rushing back to Tony Stark. "I suppose you are okay," she said bluntly.

"You can have whatever you like," he assured her before she ran toward the trash. He wasn't her guardian and it wasn't like Tony ate the most healthy food all the time. He was concerned when she didn't feel well because, well, some food combos just killed the stomach. He was glad she cut down on the chocolate milk.

He laughed out loud when she told him that he was okay. "Yeah, I get that sometimes. People need a minute to warm up to me." He wasn't in the habit of talking down to kids and Klara was obviously precocious so he had no problem telling her the truth. "I will do my best to keep that opinion, Klara. Thank you."

The laugh made her tense up for a second since it caught her off guard. Klara wasn't used to adults being actually jovial like that, Klaus the exception of course. (Klaus was basically just a giant kid that watched My Little Pony with her, which currently made him her favorite adult.) She gave him a shaky smile before she managed to turn into a real one, a shy but real one.

"Okay," she nodded before stepping to the side so he could lead the way back to the food truck. Klara glanced up at him. "As long as you don't do anything Molly would say is butthead-ish then I think we are good. Also, aren't you supposed to be super smart? As in help with homework smart," she asked cautiously. "I mean if a person ever needed help with homework you'd be the person to ask?"

	He cast a sideways glance toward her as they returned to the truck. "Oh, I'm a genius," he told her with a wink. "I think I can manage homework help." He held up a hand as if taking an oath. "Okay. That is quite good to know." Klara filed the bit away for future use. If she got too annoyed with the modern lessons than she would ask Tony to help her. So far her first taste of dealing with school had left a sour taste in her mouth, but she hadn't reached the ripping the school apart with vines type of annoyed yet. She stepped up to the truck window and put her hands on the edge of it as she stared at the menu.

Her nose scrunched up as she just continued to stare. "You order," she finally said as she pushed away from the window.

It was a little bit of both. Some of the words she didn't understand and then there was also just too many words. Not that Klara was ever going to admit that. So she just looked up at Tony and thought it over.

"Cheeseburger. Extra pickles." She gave him a half-smile as she clasped her hands in front of her, like a proper little lady. Klara, despite her manners, didn't hide the fact she was studying Tony Stark with great interest. He was an adult, a man, and someone that had messed with the Runaways, but he was different. Her lips pressed into a line as she continued to stare.

	Tony, acutely aware of being looked at, turned to the truck's counter and repeated her order. Once he had the food, he turned back to Klara. "Here you go, sweetheart. See? No one is mad." (Reply to this) (Parent)
