Buffy & Freddy.
WHO: Buffy Summers & Freddy Freeman
WHAT: Ooh, time to go sightseeing!
WHERE: Starts off at Freddy’s place, moves on from there.
WHEN: Sunday, some point after the morning of Christmas in June.
WARNINGS: Language maybe.
SPOILERS: Um.. not sure? Maybe for Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Shazam?

Buffy checked her wallet once more as she headed for the floor Freddy was staying in. She was sure she had enough for whatever they likely did, and she could try and improvise if she didn’t, but it didn’t hurt to triple check. She hadn’t exactly arrived with a bucket of cash. But she’d been wearing some jewelry that she pawned the other day in the off chance she didn’t find a job in time for next month’s rent. Plus she had ‘earned’ some extra when coming across some muggers during patrol. Luckily she hadn’t needed to buy a new wardrobe as of yet so her necessities had been kind of minimal so far. She knew she wanted to be sure Freddy had a good time and hoped whatever they did would be enough.

Goodland was a strange place, mirror of Manhattan that it was, but it seemed like the well known tourist spots still existed so there was still plenty to see and she was more than willing to hear any suggestions Freddy had. He seemed like a good kid and while he didn’t totally remind her of Dawn, he did remind her of some of the younger Slayers they had managed to locate and start training before her arrival here. And while none of them were ever exactly like Dawn, no one could be, they all seemed to trigger a big sister instinct in her. Maybe it was the whole shared power thing or the fact she had just started taking the whole oldest Slayer role to a new level. Whatever it was, it had her protective big sister senses on high, and the kid was already on her list of people she’d take a bullet for. Funny that. Her thoughts finally settling down after one last cash count, Buffy paused in front of the apartment door with a shrug. Whatever happened, happened. In the end, she wanted to explore and having company, even if it was a kid (or rather a teenager) was a hell of a lot more fun than adulting with adults. Confident in her choices and wallet contents, Buffy lightly rapped her knuckles on the door and waited.

She wasn’t actually going to do it herself, after all, he wasn’t her kid, but she figured the ‘threat’ would be incentive. Buffy liked to think her mom would be proud of the tactic. “I bet if we tried hard enough we could get in plenty of trouble for it. Start a whole criminal empire built on dealing chocolate to chocoholics.” She wore a slightly devious smile as the wheels began to turn. “We could even own the police by controlling the flow of chocolate donuts.”

She took the sunscreen and it vanished into the bag and she nodded, bring her focus back out of the chocopreneur mafia she’d been starting in her mind. Apparently, her mind went to strange places without evil to fight. Huh. “Yeah, Sunnydale, California. Home of the hellmouth. But no one was left in it when we-” Her elaboration paused, though her footsteps didn’t. “Wait. I haven’t really dished out the whole Buffy backstory thing, have I.” She really was terrible at the whole secret/not so secret identity thing. She’d just been assuming that everyone had weirder or equally messed up lives as she did that it didn't matter.

Freddy laughed at the idea of being a dastardly underground chocolate dealer. They could wear dark hoods and slip it into laptop cases.

He trotted slightly behind Buffy, perfectly content to follow her lead. However, he definitely didn't follow what she was saying. Hellmouth? Granted, until a few weeks ago, he didn't think superheroes really existed either. If villains and heroes existed in his world, obviously they could exist anywhere. Was hellmouth something like that? "Is that a villain? And...do you mean everyone like...died?" He asked.

Buffy gave him a serious look and was reminded how he was just a little younger than she was when she was called. “Kind of. A hellmouth is a place mystical energy that can be used to open a way into hell or hell dimension. Whatever. Evil things gravitate toward it. And not so evil things too really, it’s like a magnet for supernatural things.” She shook her head, “As for the sinking town, everyone had evacuated by the time we closed it. By closing it, the place collapsed and poof insta crater.”

She held the door open for him as they headed outside and she instinctively basked for a moment in the daylight as she enjoyed the rain free moment. “To make a long story really short, I’m a Slayer. I have superpowers and slay evil demons, evil vampires, save the world from apocalypses, and even get to destroy evil robots sometimes.”

Hell. Like where Nico's dad ruled? The different realities were all very confusing. Were the angel and demon guys Freddy saw around the web board part of that too? "So like a superhero," Freddy suggested. "That is seriously cool, Buffy!" He pretty much bounced as he walked down the block with her. Well, bounced as much as he could with his cane. "Do you love it? Is it exciting? Scary? Did you have a mentor? How did you train?" His questions came out in a jumble.

“Kind of, just instead regular superhero stuff it’s supernatural stuff.” Superheroes didn’t usually deal with hell gods, did they? Maybe she should ask Andrew next t- nope. Scratch that, she wanted to keep her sanity intact. “Being a Slayer isn’t exactly something for me to love. I can’t turn it off and it’s something I have to do.” Buffy really didn’t want to break the cheerful idealism of it too much by getting into how much death was involved. “But yeah, I had a mentor. His name is Giles and he was, is, my Watcher. Watchers are usually stuffy British guys that train Slayers and do research while sitting on the sidelines doing nothing of use. But Giles is the exception and he actually helped out.” Okay, so she threw in a little of the old school annoyance at how Watchers used to work. But come on, they deserved it.

“I trained by, well, training. Fighting comes naturally to me. But I spar with Giles and others when I can. Do tai chi, meditate, that kind of stuff. Unlike most Slayers, I didn’t officially start training till I was like fifteen, when I was called. Before that, the closest training I had was some gymnastics and cheerleading.”
