DATES: Saturday, August 3 - Tuesday, August 6

SUMMARY: Ostrich Villa residents wake up to an eerie, black sky. Dark ghost-like creatures confront those brave enough to venture out. Those confronted not only feel dread and cold when these creatures approach, but also face their worst fears. The creatures seem invincible; neither magical nor lay means kill them. The sun does not come up while the creatures roam Goodland.

She was sure this was it. Those things had just swallowed Peter whole and now they were going to do the same to her. Then - a voice, a real human voice she was pretty sure, said hey and Lux stopped covering her head to look, feeling the warm and gentle hand on her back. She searched his face briefly, taking a moment to comprehend what he said.

"Y-yeah I think so." She was hurt, but she was sure nothing was broken. "W-what about Peter? I saw - I thought I saw..." She wasn't sure now, as she stood, that she had seen the real Peter. Obviously, her parents hadn't been here, neither had Garen or Jarvan or Galio. Had Peter been a hallucination? "I need to find Peter." She said, singularly focused and forgetting the need to get out of here, to safety.

"I saw one of those things eat Peter."

"I didn't see anyone else," he said as he slipped an arm under her shoulder to help her to her feet. "These things apparently cause hallucinations. Pretty sure you'll find Peter wherever you last saw him."

He didn't let go right away. "Can you walk?" It was asked with a note of how much he wasn't worried if she couldn't. She wouldn't be the first person he'd carried to safety.

"Right, okay. Okay. Good." She was relieved that Peter was alright, but with the creatures still so near putting out that overwhelming feeling of dread, she wasn't entirely reassured. There was still part of her that thought he might be dead.

Once upright, she could feel the ache in her body but she was able to move well enough, and she shook her head at this guy's question. "I can walk, I'm fine. I mean I'm not entirely fine but you get the idea, I'm mobile. I just want to go, I want to go find Peter and get away from these things. I don't like how they make me feel. Oh, I'm Lux by the way. Thanks for saving me. If we're saved, I mean, once we get away from these things and we're like definitely one hundred percent safe, I'll thank you again."

Steve kept hold for a moment longer to make sure she wasn't just trying to brave it out, but she proved she wasn't exaggerating. He let her go to give her her personal space back.

He couldn't help but smile for the rambling she did. It wasn't that he wasn't aware that the danger would be coming back and soon. Steve had just been in much, MUCH worse situations.

"Nice to meet you," he said with a nod. "I'm Steve. And you're saved. I can get you back. C'mon. Stick close." Shield held ready he began to lead the way back toward home. "Were you caught out in this or did you go out for something?"

Lux had gone to war with people and things who could do much worse than this creature did. Hallucinations and causing it to go all dark sucked, and one on one she was probably going to die against this thing. She wasn't alone, though, and when a team fought or ran together, the chances of survival were very good.

"Nice to meet you too, Steve! I'm glad I'm saved." As he began to lead the way, she followed closely and did her best to ignore the sadness she felt.

"I was hungry, and I didn't have anything in the house to eat. I'm not good at grocery shopping yet." She admitted, frowning. "The Entity said not to panic so I figured there was nothing to worry about."

This Entity was beginning to really worry Steve. Paris had been nice. Leprechauns were weird. But this? This was hurtful. Steve grimaced while Lux couldn't see.

"After this is all over I'll show you how it's done." He glanced over his shoulder to give her a reassuring smile. "I'm going to take you to some friends of mine. You'll be safe there and they'll have food for you." Sam and Christine. They'll look after Lux.

"Natasha showed me the first time, but I was too excited by all the new foods. I mean, I know how to get snacks but putting together meals is still tough." She admitted as they walked. The farther they went, the better she was starting to feel. Almost back to her chipper, optimistic self.

Nodding her head, Lux smiled. "Thank you, Steve. I don't want to impose on your friends, though. I mean, I should probably just stay in my room..."

So Nat helped this girl? Steve's smile lifted a little more. He was glad someone he knew and trusted stepped up. And it didn't surprise him one bit that it was Nat.

"It takes some practice, but I can show you some easy things to make." Spaghetti. Frozen pizzas. He'd had to learn it all too. Granted the frozen pizzas came after he'd come out of the ice, but they were easy.

"You won't be imposing," he reassured her. "This is what they do. They take care of people. There's other people there too that were caught out here."

"I like spaghetti and pizza." She agreed, wincing a little as she walked. Without all the fear and dread taking up her brainspace, the adrenaline dissipated and she could start to feel her injuries more.

"Everyone has been trying to teach me things but I forgot most of it, except for how to use the toaster." She admitted, feeling a little guilty for the fact that she hadn't been able to pick up everything everyone had tried to teach her so far. She'd gotten a lot of it, but cooking just wasn't one of them.

At the reassurance that where he was taking her was somewhere she would not be imposing on, Lux nodded her head. "Okay, that's alright then. As long as they don't mind."

Steve noticed the flinch. His new suit came complete with a back holster for his shield which he made use of now. It left his hands free so he could scoop Lux up. He didn't want her getting hurt more, and to him she'd weight next to nothing.

"We can write it down so you have a guide to go by," he said with a sympathetic smile. "The first time I made a baked potato in the microwave it exploded. I needed a new microwave. I learned to write things down after that."

Lux was not used to someone picking her up and carrying her away like that. On the battlefield, no one dared to try and help her. She had made it abundantly clear that she could do it herself, thank you very much. Here, though, she wasn't fighting the Princess reputation. She wasn't Garen's helpless little sister. She didn't have to fight to be taken seriously.

So she let it go, and her breath evened out as he carried her, the movement not causing her nearly as much discomfort as walking had. "Oh, see, Nico and Nat showed me how to use the microwave but all I know how to do is microwave the frozen dinners and I don't like those at all. I've never had frozen food before coming here, and I don't think I like it very much."

	With adrenaline running through you pain and actual injury were hidden. Steve knew from before his change that once the adrenaline dwindled away the pain could seem so much worse than normal. Steve chuckled. "I wouldn't use the microwave to actually cook in. It's good for heating things up. And popcorn." (Reply to this) (Parent)
