Calling Sansa and Arya's relationship complicated would be, in Sansa's opinion, an understatement. She'd attempted once to explain it to Margaery, who'd had a darling brother and a close relationship with him -perhaps similar to Jon and Arya in some ways, but Sansa couldn't really find the words to explain things.

Sometimes, it felt worse since the Battle of Winterfell, sometimes it felt better. But there were aspects of their childhood that never seemed to move away, and Sansa's extended periods with people like Cersei and Littlefinger had hardened some corners of her heart. Not showing weakness, distrusting it in others, keeping people at arms length.

It didn't really surprise her that Arya could be as cutting with words as she was with a knife. Nor did it surprise her that when animosity was delivered it was sent back. Arya brushed off her injury as if it were nothing, either unaware of the panic hearing about her sister's injury caused Sansa, or just not considering it. She had seen so many people she cared for struck from this life; witnessing father's beheading, being told in gory detail of Robb and her mother's final moments, of the niece or nephew that had been killed before it took breath, seeing Rickon so cruelly hunted by such a heartless beast. Margaery and Ser Loras, Theon, Sandor. All gone and Sansa learning with each death that caring for people brought pain.

Cersei may actually have been right about one thing.

As Shaggy Dog chased Summer through some trees, Lady staying quietly by Sansa's side and Grey Wind kept careful watch (Nymeria and Ghost with Arya wherever she was in this half ruined world), Sansa realised that perhaps she had underestimated her sister's propensity for causing pain.

Joffrey had been the biggest mistake of Sansa's life, and she knew that. She'd been young, full of ideas and swept up in the fantasy of being Queen, with an adoring husband and beautiful children and ruling with compassion and love. Of course, those turned out to be two things Joffrey wasn't capable of at all, and Sansa's childish dreams turned to ash in her mouth, dead as a dove held too tight, the moment her father's head was lobbed from his shoulders at her betrothed's orders.

She could only have wished that Joffrey would've been the worst of it. Although Lord Tyrion had been gentle and kind, attempting to make her captivity as easy on her as he possibly could, they both knew she was unhappy with their situation.

Not that any of it could have prepared her for Ramsey.

As a shudder ran down her spine, Lady nudging at her legs with a whine, Sansa buried her hand in the soft fur at Lady's neck before locating a tree with suitable shading where she could sit for a moment, keeping an eye on Shaggy Dog and Summer chasing each other.

She just needed some time and air before going home.

Torunn relished slaying the monsters. She knew people wouldn't understand that so she kept it to herself. Perhaps she'd share it with Thor or Valk, but, for the moment, she hid her truth. She knew most of those in Goodland saw her as a fifteen year old girl and expected her to like what "typical" fifteen year old girls liked, but they forgot she was also an Asgardian raised in a dystopia. She needed excitement. She needed to fight. And for that reason? She asked Cupid to give her full powers. She knew from James that Thor bestowed them on her in her future, but she needed to take matters into her own hands here.

She finished practicing her new-found skills and cut through the park to get home where she spotted some wolf like animals playing. "Oh, hello," she told them, hoping they were friendly.

It was Grey Wind that alerted Sansa to someone near them, as she sat with Lady's head in her lap, contemplating while stroking the fur on the massive head. While Grey Wind had taken note, he hadn't risen from where he settled by Sansa, just watching his siblings playing and the young blond who approached.

There was a degree of concern, not everyone would be used to wolves in their orbit, and many might take them to be dangerous like those uninformed in Westeros did. However, given the number of warriors within Goodland, Sansa was prepared to explain them where she needed to.

Summer and Shaggy Dog seemed keen to meet the new person after all, and rather than leave her in suspense, "They won't hurt you," she didn't like raising her voice, but it felt more important to make sure the blond girl heard her. "They just want to play." They did seem to have the most energy, those pair.

Torunn whipped around at the voice. Her hand instinctively went to her sword, but she didn't draw it. She relaxed when she recognized the voice as belonging to someone from the Villa. "Oh, thanks, hello," she said when Sansa's words registered. She grinned at the animals. "They are beautiful."

The reflective motion was familiar in the way that Arya almost always hand a hand near her hilt too, so she was a young warrior. "They are," Sansa appreciated people who could see that before they saw the danger, "You could touch them, if you wanted." Summer and Shaggy Dog were likely the best for people to meet first.

Grey Wind was exceptionally wary, and Sansa understood that, knowing what happened to him, just as Ghost was cautious. Summer and Shaggy Dog seemed to embody Bran and Rickon better, both of them more trusting to begin with. "The black one is Shaggy Dog, the tan one is Summer."

Torunn didn't need to be told twice. She immediately held a hand out to the animals, allowing them to sniff if they wanted. She laughed. "I want one. I wonder if my dad would have a heart attack." It was a figure of speech; she was pretty sure Thor couldn't succumb to something as earthly as heart trouble. "I'm Torunn," she added. "I think I saw you around the monsters?"

"They're my family sigil, the Direwolf." And it was still something that Sansa was proud of. The Wolves survived. The Lions died, but the Wolves survived. "My father found one for each of us." It felt like a lifetime ago, and in some ways it was. Given how much had changed. "I am Sansa. Probably, I didn't go to the bunker until things seemed to get very bad."

After all, Sansa's skill in battles appeared to be hiding.

"Each of you? Your siblings?" Torunn did a quick headcount. "You have several then? Me too." She had her Asgardian symbols, but she wasn't raised with them so didn't bother mentioning her own roots. She thought of her older self. Was it possible to be envious of one's self? She ached to have the memory of being coated in her homeland's armor and insignia.

There was a slight sadness in the nod that Sansa gave, "I had five siblings. With me, it makes six." In some ways she counted Jon still as a sibling, although he was her cousin. Her father raised Jon as their brother, much to her mother's disgust, and sometimes Sansa's in a bid to please her mother. "My sister and elder brother's Direwolves are with her elsewhere." Nymeria rarely left Arya's side these days.

"Are you siblings here with you?" She was sure she'd seen the other girl use this network, mentioning a brother. But it was always best to check.

She caught on that Sansa said "had" instead of "have", but Torunn didn't push. She wouldn't want some stranger nosing around her business, after all.

"Some of them," Torunn replied. "James has been here a while and Pym just got here today. I have a third brother, but he is not here." She looked a little sad when she mentioned Azari, but she knew she was luckier than some who were in Goodland with no one from home. "Your sister is here then?" She inferred Sansa had at least one sibling in Goodland from what Sansa mentioned about the direwolves being elsewhere.

"It is always better to have family nearby." Truly, Sansa felt the most safe when she had some of her family there. Even when Jon wasn't trusting her, she knew he'd do anything to keep her safe. And while she and Arya were at odds sometimes, there was no doubt that Arya would kill anyone who threatened Sansa. "I'm sure Pym appreciates having you and your brother here with him." If Sansa had arrived here without Arya, or Margaery who was like a sister in so many ways, she wasn't sure she'd had adapted well.

"Arya is, yes. She's like you, a warrior." It didn't feel like an overreach to associate it with Torunn, she was evidently battle ready. Brienne would be proud to know that other worlds valued women warriors.

Torunn beamed at that. It felt good being recognized as a warrior when so many residents saw only a teenager. "I'll have to meet her," she told Sansa. "Do you live together? Did she come through the monsters alright?"

The stony expression on Sansa's face was probably rather reminiscent of her mother, "She was injured, but ... she had a mage heal her." Although Sansa really didn't want to think on the injury that her sister sustained, nor what happened to Margaery, given how much death was in their lives. "But we do live together, with Margaery, who was something of a sister to me, and the Lady Diana." Who was, again, another brave, strong warrior.

"She intends to hold swordsmanship classes." And a glance at Torunn's sword had Sansa smirking slightly, "Perhaps she could use the assistance from someone equally skilled."

Torunn thought maybe she shouldn't have asked about the monsters judging by Sansa's steadfast expression. "Well, I'm glad she is alright and you have her here," she replied.

Her eyes lit up at the mention of the classes. "Valk and I host something similar on Sundays. We should definitely get together. Will you be participating?"

Sansa hadn't really been there that long, although she had heard about things that happened in Goodland, it made perfect sense to her that people who could fight were trying to train others to defend themselves. And while Sansa understood it would be sensible for her to rely on more than just her Direwolves for protection, she wasn't sure about the intricacies of learning sword fighting.

"I don't think I'll be there." Sansa really wasn't one for fighting, regardless of the things that had happened in her life. "Lady protects me." And at the sound of her name, Lady's head popped up, as if she were agreeing with the sentiment.

Torunn smiled and nodded as she noticed Lady perk up. "Looks like she agrees," she responded. "So what are you up to? I didn't mean to interrupt." However, she wasn't sorry she stopped. There was something about Sansa that she liked.

Lady had always been emotive, her expressions very in tune with Sansa's moods, in truth all the Direwolves had bonded closely with their Stark. "You didn't interrupt anything important," Sansa had just needed a little time, some air, the chance to shake off what Arya had said to her. Memories from home were never far away, and her ability to be in a room with some of these people was tested greatly at times. She was mostly thankful for Diana's quiet grace and strength, Margaery's support, even Arya's fierceness.

It also helped that the males in each of their lives were gentlemen. "I just came out for some air, and to get the wolves out for some exercise."

"It does get suffocating in there sometimes," Torunn said. It was partly why she didn't like traditional school. She wasn't used to being held up for hours at a time. She and her brothers were tutored, of course, but encouraged to learn hands on. Besides, she spent years in a dome. Granted, it was a spacious dome she could explore in, but still a dome she couldn't escape. "But if you are sure you are alright..."

It did get to be too much sometimes, "I grew up in a busy home," Winterfell was usually busy, being the central fort of the North. "It's just..." Well, Torunn had siblings, so she likely understood, "Sibling stuff."

Their dynamic was odd, there wasn't that much time between their births, but they grew up so different, and then they had such vastly different experiences. "It's just better to walk away and get some air sometimes."

"Ah. Yeah, sometimes I want to take my sword to my brothers," she joked. She'd never really hurt her family, but sometimes they needed a good uppercut. "I spar with James sometimes. It is a good way to get frustrations with each other out." She guessed, from what Sansa mentioned, that suggestion wouldn't work for her.
