Luckily, Betty had Archie here with her and the two had agreed to go to the ball as friends. Of course, maybe Betty had wanted more because she'd always wanted more with Archie, but she hadn't pushed. Here they were not cheerleader and lead of the football team. Here, they were just Archie and Betty and as much as Betty cared for Archie, she withheld the word "date" from their interactions tonight.
"I'm with Archie," Betty replied with a small smile. Small, yes, but no doubt still brimming with that sense of warmth and happiness that filled her at the mention of his name. There was always a shine to her eyes too, a bit of a sparkle in the depths that only the thought of childhood friend could bring about.
