Who: Klaus Hargreeves and OPEN
What: Everyone’s favorite Hargreeve has arrived
Where: An alley near the apartment building.
When: Sunday Evening.
Spoilers: The Umbrella Academy, Season Two

Klaus closed his eyes as he processed the off-brand Umbrella Academy-- The Sparrow Academy, he reminded himself mentally. None of that mattered to him though. Ben was alive. Ben was really, truly, honestly, physically alive. Even though he had gone from elation to dread at the sound of his father's voice, there was just--- something unexplainable when he saw Ben in the flesh having already resigned himself to never talking to him again. He was just processing the grief for the first time ever. And then he was standing in front of him.

Klaus didn’t realize that he was standing in the heat until a few moments later. He opened his eyes, confusing focusing in his eyes. How the fuck was he standing outside? Alone. In an alley. Why was it always an alley. A burst of rage channeled through him, and he kicked the dumpster. Who had opened the damn briefcase? Had Five jumped to fix this again? Why did it always work like this.

“What are we going to do?” He found himself asking out loud. Only silence answered him. He was so used to Ben being near him that he just naturally said things out loud. It was only then did Klaus realize he was alone. He was alone for the first time in his life and his heart sank into his stomach. There was the unmistakable itch in his palms that told him to numb himself, that told him this city seemed big enough that he could find a dealer if he tried hard enough. So long as he wasn’t in the 60s again, but by the look of the cars driving past, he was home.

He just had to breathe. Figure it out. But across the street there was a gas station that was advertising White Claws. They weren’t Klaus’ favorite, naturally, but any port in a storm. He anxiously tugged on his shirt and stepped out onto the street, bumping into someone he only half paid attention to.

Here in Goodland, Allison's world felt smaller than it had in a long time. Often frustrated with how long it would take to write (or type on the tiny devices everyone called a phone) her thoughts out, she mostly stuck to writing out simple thoughts when she was physically with people. It was, unsurprisingly, incredibly isolating. So she went on a lot of walks. Moving felt productive, and no one expected you to talk to them, not even the catcallers (though she would have liked to give them more than a few words).

Normally someone running into her and passing without saying sorry wouldn't have phased her. New Yorkers seemed to be assholes like that. But the street was pretty much empty, so there really was no fucking excuse. Turning to at least try and glare the person into submission, she reached out to take their wrist in her hand. It only took a second more for her to recognize Klaus, her eyes going wide and a smile spreading across her lips. She knew there were people who looked alike but were from different universes, but she'd eat her shoe if this wasn't her brother.

Just to be sure, she twisted his wrist gently to reveal the tattoo they all shared. No noises came out as she tried to express the giddy happiness she felt at seeing him again, but it was clear across her face as she moved to pull him into a hug.

When someone grabbed his wrist, Klaus braced himself for a fight. It was a secondary reaction, something that he had been trained for. When his arm twisted, he pulled it closer to him, to make a grab at the other person, as he looked up at them.

He had to blink for a second, only barely processing that it was his sister before she enveloped him in a hug. God, he had to admit that he was damn glad that he wasn’t alone again. He didn’t know how to be alone.

“Today is fucked, am I right?” He said with a gentle, shaky laugh. “I say you rumor someone into getting us those margarita’s that you promised me and then we work on finding the others. Assuming they’ve made it into this year yet.”

Margaritas? That with the hair only confirmed Klaus was definitely from the future. There would have been no promised margaritas a week ago or any time since they were 17. Pulling the notebook and pen from her back pocket, she scribbled three words before holding it out for him to read.
NOT HOME,
GOODLAND
There would be a paper somewhere... Looking in the direction he'd come from, she spotted it and chased it down before the wind could take it away. Handing it to him, she flipped the page in her notebook so she could write while he read.
FIVE, VANYA, LUTHER HERE, TOO.
ALTERNATE DIMENSION,
EVERYONE FROM DIFFERENT TIMES.
I LIKE YOUR HAIR
Studying him carefully, she tried to gauge how he was taking it. Sure, their lives were already weird, but that didn't mean he'd accept it. Then again, she had no idea how drunk or drugged out he might be at the moment, either. She wished one of the others was there; they'd been here longer or remembered being here, whereas she was still figuring it all out. After he'd read her most recent note, she flipped the page once more, giving him a wobbly smile as she held it out.
I MISSED YOU

When Alison began to write at him, he couldn’t help but stare at her confused. He couldn’t help it, but his eyes roamed down to the bandaid that lay across her throat. She couldn’t talk again? What the hell had happened? He had opened his mouth to ask her when she went off chasing a piece of paper.

“Alison, what the--” When she brought him the paper, he stopped speaking for a second to scan it over, his eyebrows raised. This was… well, it was something. “What did Five do now…?” He asked mostly to himself. He looked up at Alison, and sighed a bit.

“If I said… Dallas, what would you say?” He asked her watching her face for any changes of expression. She really was from before they jumped, wasn’t she? He leaned in and hugged her again. He didn’t know what to say, did she even know that they didn’t stop the apocalypse?

"I need a drink."

Allison stared at Klaus for a moment, brows furrowed, before shaking her head. Dallas... was a city in Texas? That was pretty much all it meant to her. She let him pull her in for another hug, giving him a squeeze before resorting to the damned notebook again. She had too many questions for a suitably sappy reunion.
ALCOHOL IN APT.
DID WE STOP END OF WORLD?
A glimmer of hope bloomed in her chest. Luther and Five were the furthest in the timeline, but they didn't know much about what happened after the moon started coming down. Klaus knew something, clearly.
COME WITH ME?
This explained the weird text she'd gotten from Luther while she was out. Grabbing for his letter, she scanned for the apartment assignment and gave a silent sigh of relief, pointing to it for him to see, then pointing to the Villa.

“Which one?” Klaus found himself bitterly saying before he could stop himself, he ran an annoyed hand through his hair. He scrunched up his face in immediate regret. “I’m sorry -- I -- just.” He squeezed his eyes shut again and opened them.

“Yes, sort of. We get out of there. We grab Vanya. We jump… and we all… live.” His voice caught in his throat at the last word. Because, they didn’t all live, not really. Ben was gone, but the rest of them had dealt with that death like normal people, when it happened, when they were teenagers and not nearly twenty years later like he was forced to.

“Yeah, but uh… you said that Vanya and Five and Luther were all here? Like, you know where they are?” He was oddly hopeful at the idea. “Because, I’m thinking it might be family meeting time again.” And god, did he hate those.

Well, that was good news. Minus the 'which one'... They could never have peace, could they? Not when they were together. But she agreed that a family meeting would be the most efficient dissemination of whatever Klaus had lived through that the rest of them hadn't. No need to put him through it more often than they had to.

Giving him an exasperated look, she pointed to the apartment number on his letter then back to the building again. That was where their siblings were, or at least some of them. She started walking through the crowd of ostriches, looking back to make sure he was following before pulling out her phone to send a group text.

“How was I supposed to know that they would just be sitting in my apartment?!” Klaus questioned her with a roll of his eyes. He folded the paper and pushed it back into his pocket. When she started to walk off, her paused for a moment, looking back at the white claw advertisement before moving to catch up with her.

“I can’t wait until you get your voice back, it makes arguing with you a hell of a lot easier.” He murmured as he waded into the unusual sea of Ostriches that seemed to be hanging around the apartment building. He didn’t even have the mind to ask about them, just accepting them as what they were as they moved.

“How long have you been here?”

Firing off the text, she pushed into the lobby and called for the elevator. The wait gave her some time to open the notebook again. She was running out of pages in this one, it was going to be time to get another soon.
OUR APARTMENT
Hopefully he wouldn't raise too big of a stink about that. They didn't have a choice either way.
2 WEEKS
Finished, she held it out for him. She wanted to ask more about her getting her voice back, but that could wait until she had a fresh notebook. Or until she felt like typing it in the notes app and handing him her phone, but unless something changed for them, she didn't think he'd know how to use it yet.

There was a smile that appeared on his face when she mentioned that they all shared an apartment. There was definitely a time when that would have driven Klaus crazy, the idea of living with them would have reminded him of the academy, but instead it just... it made him feel better. He wasn't used to that thought yet, but at least he knew that they would be around for them, though he wasn't sure if they would feel the same way... it seemed like they were still expecting fuck up Klaus, so who was he to let them down.

When they were in the elevator he sighed again. It was starting to sink in that this was yet another new reality. And if Alison didn't know about the apocalypse or Dallas, that must mean that the others didn't either. That would mean they didn't know about end of the world or Dad, or Sparrow Academy. His head was swimming suddenly-- was this what Five felt like all the time? Was this why he was so cranky.

"It's really nice to see you, Alison." He said gently, realizing he wasn't sure when the last time he said that to her in her timeline was.

This place really was a trip. Taking people then throwing them away just to bring them back again but different. Luther remembering being here, but her with no clue. Ben, brought back from the dead somehow. She was glad to be getting more of her family, glad Klaus would be sharing the apartment with them, but cautious about how long this kind of thing would last and trying not to hope for the rest of her brothers. The more you had, the more you had to lose. She knew that much even without Goodland.
YOU TOO
Giving him a soft smile, she reached up with her free hand to tug at his hair gently. He looked good, definitely different, but good. There was something new behind his eyes that she couldn't quite name, but she liked it.

Klaus couldn’t help but smile when she tugged at his hair. It had seemed like the right thing to do in the sixties, and he’d liked it a lot to be honest, the hair was going to stick around for a while. He leaned gently and nudged her playfully with his shoulder.

“Everything is going to be okay.” He told her gently, though he wasn’t sure if he was saying it to make her, or himself feel better. Probably both of them, at least a little. He scratched at his palm, trying to ignore the need he was feeling. Ben was right, it had been a mistake to throw away his sobriety, but he couldn’t help it now.

His reassurance hit her in a way she didn't expect, and she closed her eyes as the anxieties of... well, everything abated a little. Claire. Multiple apocalypses. Her siblings' safety... He was a lot of things, but he wouldn't lie about that. She hoped. Maybe she was reading too much into it, but he'd said everything, after all. When she opened her eyes again they were much shinier, a few tears rolling down her cheeks. Giving into the feeling, she mouthed thank you and wrapped her arms around his waist before resting her head on his shoulder.
