Who: Klara Prast & Billy Kaplan
What: Rooftop Conversations
When: Not long after this [before the glitter plot]
Where: The rooftop garden
Rating: Low
Status: In Progress/Closed

Billy didn't wait too long before pushing open his window and lifting himself carefully out of the frame and up towards the roof. He was glad he'd pulled a hoodie on and zipped it up before he left as there was a light breeze that would have been chilly if he was just in a t-shirt. He got halfway up the building before he realised that he definitely needed to close his window. He drifted back down and closed the window before he headed back up again, gracefully lifting himself up to the roof of the building and looking for the green.

When he saw the garden, he carefully lowered himself down to land near Klara, greeting her with a warm smile. He might have felt sad without Teddy around, but seeing a familiar face - someone who he knew and knew him right back - was a relief and made him feel a little better. It wasn't Teddy magically appearing but it was something and Billy had learned to appreciate everything that brightened his day a little.

"Hey you," he said as he landed, pushing his hood back and sweeping a hand through his hair, body language open for a hug if she wanted one. She didn't look much older than she had done the last time he had seen her, even though he definitely was.

Billy hugged her tightly until she leaned back, at which point he gently - and affectionately - ruffled her hair. When she told him that he was from the wrong time, he looked mock affronted. "Hey," he argued, with a warm smile, "who says you're not from the wrong time?"

He gently bumped her chin with his finger before she escaped, leaning back as he listened to her babbling about the roof garden with ease and watching her spin. "I'm glad I'm here too if you and Molly haven't had someone around who knows you for a while. I'm sorry it took me so long in that case. I saw that some of the Avengers were here, but they're ones from another reality, huh. I did think I was done with the multiverse hopping but hey, better this than-"

Better this than moping at home. Fighting a dark fae threat. Well, neither of those things needed to come to Klara's door.

He squeezed her fingers gently when she took hold of his hand again and listened patiently. "Don't apologise," he reassured her, "It's good to hear that you've had fun amongst all the bullying and school. I'd love to hear all about your time here. But- you- you stole a car and made it snow? How did you make it snow, kiddo?"

Klara could have been from the wrong time, Billy was right. That caused her nose to wrinkle in thought as she tried to mull that over. It wasn't like she was some stranger to time travel, but she tended to think she was in the proper time for herself. From the outside for other people, she was probably wrong... Even Molly was from a different time than her.

She pursed her lips together and gave a faint shrug. "Multiverse does what it wants here I guess and it isn't your fault you took forever." She rocked back on her heels as she gave him a half-smile. She was rarely this outgoing with people unless they were Molly or the people she was living with. Everyone else she was pretty reserved around in person and only interacted mainly over the network.

"Oh, Molly and I did it together. She drove. We didn't get far and then we got grounded. Miss Rogue was very upset. The snow was because I helped destroy the corn maze that was stealing people and the Entity said I could have a wish and I wished for snow so people could be happy again. I also used a wish to give everyone voodoo dolls, but both wishes did not go exactly as planned." Her lips screwed to the side before she let out a tiny sigh. "The kids at school called me weird. Maybe I am." The plants near them all seemed to strain towards Klara as if to comfort her. "I do not like most things I am supposed to."

She sniffed and squared her shoulders. "Does not matter. I am living my best life like that advertisement on the television states."

Billy chuckled. "Multiverse here might do what it wants, but normally it does what I want. It's taking a bit of getting used to." He didn't talk about his powers openly, certainly not when there was a chance the conversation could move into how he was the Demiurge with people that didn't know him - and even those that did and didn't already know - but Klara was safe enough to hint a little bit. He didn't figure she'd consider it anything other than weird grown-up talk.

He did, however, return her smile and shrugged his shoudlers, resuming giving her all of his attention as she told him about driving. He laughed, "Oh, I bet she was," he said after a moment, "but you guys are awesome. I couldn't have driven a car when I was your age." He tipped his head, so the Entity that had brought them here responded to wishes? To communication? He thought for a moment about asking it to bring him Teddy, or to send him home, but Klara had been without someone who knew her for such a long time that he was reluctant to just leave her.

The way her shoulders dropped when she talked about the kids at school calling her weird made his chest tighten in sympathy. She'd squared her shoulders before he could reach out to comfort her but he did it anyway.

"You're living your best life," he repeated, agreeing with her. "You gotta be who you are, Klara, 'cause everyone else is already taken. And no one's awesome like you are."

He squeezed her shoulder gently, "You know, when I was at school, the kids called me weird too. Sometimes kids can be really mean, especially when they don't understand you. But what makes you different from them is what makes you special. Besides, now I'm here if anyone messes with you again I'll fry 'em." He wouldn't, and they both knew it, well, at least Billy knew it. He was in a much better position now to handle bullies.

After a brief pause, he added, almost like an afterthought, "You got any of those voodoo dolls left?"
