Torunn & OPEN

TORUNN
OTA

WHO: Torunn and Open
WHAT: Celebrating Pepper's birthday
WHERE: BOBO
WHEN: Saturday, 2/8
WARNINGS: TBA
SPOILERS: TBA
STATUS: Threading
Torunn didn't know many people in Goodland, which was only one reason it felt odd celebrating Pepper's birthday. She was among people who knew each other well and loved each other, but she only knew Thor, Angela, and a handful of others. It was also super odd being in a room with a version of her foster dad, who wasn't her foster dad anymore. She wasn't used to parties, but the music, food, and clothes were fun. She just felt awkward, which was why she spent the first part of the party held up in a corner eating sweets.

Torunn shrugged. How was she supposed to explain why she felt so out of place? It made her sound like an oddball. Funny how even a teen from an apocalyptic setting worried about fitting in!

Regardless of what Frigga said, Torunn knew enough not to talk with a mouthful of food, so she left the sweets alone for the time being.

"I'm not used to being around people," she admitted. "Back home, it is just my foster dad and brothers. We were in hiding." Training, but hiding. "See," she added, knowing she couldn't leave her statement there, "their parents had been killed by something called Ultron and my foster dad was protecting us while we trained to defeat him one day."

Though it wasn't in the best of manners to do so uninvited, she pulled up a seat next to the girl. Small, but a good fighter according to Thor. And when it came to fighting, Frigga would take his word. She was trained and skilled, as nearly all Asgardians were, but she knew her talents lay elsewhere.

She kept her face neutral, despite the fact that the story was obviously a dark one. It was one she wanted to hear and overreacting might cause Torunn to shut down. "So you were raised your entire life to fight." Well. It was keeping in family tradition, anyway. "Were you allowed recreation? Anything fun at all?" Even with all of his training, she couldn't imagine Thor not breaking to do things for his own amusement.

"Oh, yeah!" She exclaimed. "Tony told us stories when we were young and he always let us use our imaginations and stuff. We just had to be prepared. He tried to protect us for as long as he could. James knows more of how it all turns out...James is my brother. He is older here even though I am the oldest at home." She was just glad James was here, whatever age. She missed her other brothers and foster dad. "Sorry, I am probably saying too much." How did one talk to a queen anyway? These were things she'd know if Thor raised her in her reality.

She couldn't help laughing a little, shaking her head. "No, you're not saying too much at all. I'd love to hear more. It sounds like you lead a fascinating life." Scary, perhaps. But certainly fascinating. She couldn't help looking over the girl's features. She had Thor's coloring, definitely. But there was a great deal of her mother in her, too. Her chin, especially. "I don't believe I've had the honor of meeting James yet. I've met Tony - well, this one, I suppose? He found me when I arrived."

She squirmed a little when she noticed Frigga looking her over, but she realized she should expect that. It was probably as weird for Frigga to have a granddaughter she didn't know about as it was for Torunn to suddenly have a grandmother. Sort of. "This is weird, isn't it?" She laughed suddenly, a nervous move she didn't intend. "Us, I mean? Here." She gestured around the party, but meant so much more. "Sorry if I am not what you expected." Thor didn't raise her and, even if he had, he still wouldn't have been this woman's son. It all made Torunn's head ache.
