Who: Thor and Frigga
What: A royal reunion
Where: The children’s floor
When: Backdated to Wednesday Night
Spoilers: Endgame/Infinity War

Thor was so overjoyed to see his mother's words that he could almost feel the electricity rolling over his skin. His mother was here and it was something he never dared to dream of. Sure, he had thought it, idly, but he had never thought that it might happen.

But with the realization that she was here came the understanding that he had to tell her about everything. He knew that he could lie, he could hide his shame and failure, but to what end? Goodland had a way of making things come out, usually at inopportune times, and Thor didn’t want his mother to find out casually. He needed to be the one to prepare her, it was his duty as her eldest son.

But he was nervous. He knew how he felt about his inability to rule or protect his people--- he was not his father, and did not lead with the effortless grace his parents had. He felt like he stumbled, time and time again, and then to learn that he decided to leave them? That he never learned his lesson and decided to put himself before his people again? He trusted Valkyrie to protect them, to be the Ruler that New Asgard needed-- the one it truly deserved, but to know that he abandoned them again broke his heart.

He had been in the Kids area enough time to know where the guardian’s typically stayed. There was no hesitation, by the time he got to the door. He banged loudly, full of anxious energy and vast excitement. When his mother finally came to the door (mere moments felt like hours), a well of emotions hit him. Great Happiness. Deep sorrow. Guilt. Relief. He wrapped his mother in a tight hug, nearly lifting her off her feet.

“Mother.” He sighed, “It is so good to see you.”

She felt tears prick at her eyes, but not for the reasons Thor thought she would. Yes, she was disappointed, but not in him. Never in him. Heimdall had been so treasured, so loyal to their family and the entirety of Asgard for so long. And Loki... How many times must she grieve her child? No mother should have to do so. She knew he had made horrible choices. Thor had once asked her if she regretted sharing her gifts with him and she'd said no and she still meant it, despite what he was able to do with them. She still loved him completely. Him not being born of herself and Odin had never made her love him less.

Frigga took a long, slow breath. She was a queen, a goddess, and most importantly, a mother. She had a duty to do at that moment. Her mourning could come later, when her son didn't desperately need her. "Hela...was complicated. Yes, you caused the end of her life, but you must remember you did not do so with your own hands. And she would never have been happy. She could have ruled all Nine Realms and still been an unhappy creature." Her stepdaughter was always going to be a difficult subject.

Thanos' name was familiar. One that had pricked at the back of her senses for far too long. "That was an attack even I could not have predicted, my child. The fact that any of our people survived is your doing. And...I suppose that of the Valkyrie as well." Frigga didn't hold quite the ill will towards the woman that Valkyrie thought she did. Honestly, she had no issues with her at all. The Valkyrie had been gone well before she'd taken her place at Odin's side. "My darling, you do know I don't blame you for any of this, don't you?"
