WHO george and cisco
WHAT a date
WHEN sunday
WHERE outside the apartment complex to start
WARNINGS TBD
STATUS on going

He wasn't supposed to say yes. No, that wasn't right. George had wanted Cisco to say yes, he just hadn't expected him to say yes. Zero planning had gone into a date before the question had just sort of slipped out of him and then he found himself scrambling. Bill and Percy were utterly useless at suggestions and he had found himself attempting to look ideas up the muggle internet. There had been a mild distraction of cat videos, but he had managed to focus.

Now he found himself standing on the sidewalk outside the apartment complex as he stared at his phone. His mum was in a tizzy about something, but he would worry about that later. Right now he had to focus on not throwing his own heart up. Life in Goodland was like a runaway broom that he was stuck on and Cisco was someone who managed to steady him some. The bloke was witty, didn't mind sharing knowledge, and...well bloody Hell. George ran a hand over his lower face as he tried not to think about the fact he was crushing just a bit more than he realized. He shoved his phone into the pocket of his ripped bluejeans before making sure his voodoo doll was secure in the leather messenger bag he wore.

Bill had said do an activity where they could talk so George had settled on the zoo. Though, now that he was standing here he couldn't help wondering if he picked poorly. So when Cisco walked up what tumbled out of his mouth wasn't exactly a hello.

"I wanted to surprise you with the zoo and at night they have this light walk thing, but now I realize there will be large crowds and I-" George flushed and reached up to grip the necklace he wore for courage. "I mean hullo. Also, I thought you might like the zoo because it is interesting and lots of opportunities for photos, but if you want to do something else we can. Sorry."

He winced slightly at how crazy he must seem, that and he could feel his phone going off with notifications. He didn't actually have a huge urge to check said phone since he was paying attention to Cisco. Basically waiting to see if the other bloke was going to laugh in his face or not.

Of the twins Fred had always been better at this stuff. Plus George had just been happy to daydream about various blokes and birds.

Now he was going on a date and acting like an utter loon.

The zoo was busy, but holding George's hand grounded him. Gave him something else to focus on rather than just the rush of bodies all around them. It was a weekend near Christmas of course, people were out with their families. Groups were there on tours, Cisco watched as a group flooded past them a short distance away but managed to squeeze that hand instead of getting an attack. "I may already be a step ahead of you." He'd taken a picture with that little doll in front of the entrance and sent it to George's phone earlier when he vanished. "I kind of like the idea of taking pictures of it." He grinned at the possibilities. Who knew what New Orleans zoo had to offer, but from what he'd seen online there were plenty of sculptures and real animals to take pictures of with it.

He kept up with George easily enough as he was tugged with him. "Or with it." He pulled the slightly younger man closer when they got to the entrance and used his free hand to fish for his phone to take a selfie of the two of them with the little voodoo doll he'd stuck on his shoulder for a second before slipping the phone back into his pocket and grinning. "I want to see the lights, I was looking at the website for a little bit on my phone and it said they turn on soon." The lights were everywhere though, so they could see animals and lights.

Watching George pay for admission, he'd remember and treat him to something later. A dessert maybe. "Hm...I like the otters. Vicious but adorable." He grinned. "What do you want to see?" He wanted to know what kind of animals he liked. He was no zoologist but he knew a bit about animal behavior. "I took a few animal science classes in college for fun." This was a perfect idea. "Half the fun is looking at the shops too. I may snag some things for some friends also."

George had to pause and think about what he wanted to see. "Obviously I need to see the lions," he said with a snicker. That was a stereotypical comment from a Gryffindor. "But, to be honest? I wouldn't mind seeing the penguins. They are always so dapper. Just need themselves some tiny bowties." His lips turned up into one of his trademark smirks as he joked about the penguins. He really did want to see them, but not because they were dapper. The wizard just liked them. They weren't magical and didn't have some strange tricks to survive. Yet, somehow, they just beat the odds over and over.

"I...can honestly say I haven't been to college. Muggle thing, right? Gotta say," he got distracted by something else interesting and pulled Cisco along. George had an attention span that was all over the place and a zoo was a perfect place for his attention to go wild. "Never did enjoy sitting still in classes. Shite student most of the time." His tone was distracted as he studied a mosaic of some jungle scene. The colors were vibrant and the details were fascinating. He leaned closer and his fingers over a section of the wall.

"Bloody brilliant. It is impressive someone had the patience to create this without magic. Even me mum uses magic for a lot of her projects. Though I guess in her defense, she did have a brood of hellions to deal with." George suddenly blinked before slowly turning to glance at Cisco. He gave the older bloke a sheepish look as he took a dramatic step back from the wall.

"Sorry, mate. I'm like a magpie, the shiny calls to me. Haven't quite resorted to stealing things for my horde."

A smirk crept into his lips. "Obviously." Who could bypass that? "Hah. Well then penguins first? Looks like it's first up and then the Otters are over here." He traced a finger on the map toward where they went. He didn't mind which first, it wasn't much difference to him. They'd get to see animals, he'd get to ramble science. It was a win win. He gave George's hand a tug. "Well then lets not keep the fancy penguins waiting." He said with a laugh. This was the happiest he'd been in a while. It was nice, but part of him was a little wary, did he let himself be happy? What happened if the Entity decided to take George away too?...Nope, he wasn't going there. They were in a downright magical place with animals and a literal wizard. He was just going to enjoy the moment. Thankfully a minute later it was him being pulled along again and his thoughts broke.

He enjoyed watching how excitable he was. It damn near melted his heart. He was fun to be around, Cisco needed that. He was so cautious in comparison lately. While George was distracted leaning over and peering in at some critter or another, Cisco snapped a quick picture of him. Cameo shots were his favorite, in fact little did George know one of his drones was high up in the sky likely also capturing a few stills of the day. "Yep, muggle thing. It's not for everyone. There are brilliant people who never finished high school." Cisco said with a shrug. "Benjamin Franklin one of the founding father of America never did. Dropped out at ten." For some people it worked. "You've got a successful business too I'd say it worked out in the end." Cisco loved going there.

A laugh escaped him as he watched him experience everything. "It is really, everything built here means something. Zoo's are their own eco systems for the animals they inhabit. Everything in them is thought out for the animals. I've..always wanted to come actually." He grinned as he looked up at the scene George was looking at. "And some of them are just damn pretty." Whether or not he was talking about the mosaic or the man with them was left up to interpretation. "I would use magic too if I had it." He smirked a bit, on occasion he still found himself playing with that trick wand he'd been given when kid him was lurking around.

"You lead, I'll follow." He had no particular order in which he wanted to see everything in. He just wanted to experience it with him.

"Mum wanted us to go into the Ministry, but we didn't," he remarked easily. There was a faint hitch in his voice, but not as pronounced as it had been. The arrival of Fred had helped smooth out some of the frayings on the edge of his soul. "Glad to know we are in good company for being brilliant without finishing school."

The zoo was amazing, but it was amplified by the company. Bill had been right, something he wasn't going to admit to his brother, an activity where they could talk was a brill idea. George yanked his hair back into a messy bun, not caring his damaged ear and spell scar was on display in this public place. People would probably do a double-take if they bothered to look. That was human nature really. He wasn't ashamed of the injury, nor would he ever be. He had earned it protecting Harry.

"Dangerous words," he flashed Cisco a devious grin. "I may lead you into chaos and mischief. Oh! Look," attention snagged again as he rushed over to a sign and pointed up to it in a near comical way. "We can find out weight out in bugs! I wonder how many ants I weigh, mate. Let's go to the bug room."

George was like a kid in a candy store at this point. There was a certain high from having fun with a person he had a crush on.

"They may have to kick us out of here. I want to see everything with you! Oh, but we can't forget the lights."

Cisco had just as much fun watching George as he did the animals. His energy was contagious in the best way. He hadn't had a depressing thought or downward spiral the entire time there. It was nice not to have his head all muddied up with bad things. George made him smile. More so than he had the past few months since Dick left. 'Yep! It's optional for muggles at least too." Muggles. He could use muggle in a sentence and George would actually understand him better. There was a part of him that was giddy as hell to be able to use all the wizard terms he'd gleaned from reading the stories and talking to Hannah and Remus.

He didn't mind George's scars at all, they were a part of him. He didn't stare or look concerned too long like some might, Cisco had his own flaws. A few physical were nothing to gawk at. Acknowledge, but not make awkward. He wasn't turned off at all. "Bet the Ministry is kind of amazing to see though." He'd love to see George's world. "Hannah and Remus told me some things. I wish I could see them." Maybe one day the Entity would bring them there. He really wanted to try riding a broom.

"Oh the horror. See me, fighting mischief." He responded sarcastically with a smirk. Mischief with Weasleys was something he'd only ever dreamt of. "Just don't get us thrown in jail and lead away." He amused as George found the bugs and Cisco laughed. "That's weird, but what the hell." He laughed as he followed him in. "Everything huh, want to pet things or feed things?" He was pretty sure he could arrange that for next time..

Cisco curiously examined a large spider behind glass. "Yeah stay on that side of the glass, friend." He told it as it jumped at said glass and he backed up nearly into the wizard.

Inside that habitat there were lights that suddenly turned on above them, fairy lights that had been strung for decoration and he looked up in awe. It made it feel very Christmasy, and finally he could say he was in the spirit a bit. "This was a great idea. "

"Uh, both," George answered without a second thought. Feeding and petting the animals were both on his list of things to do. "Also, jail might be fun." That was of course teasing, for the most part. The wizard had no real desire to get in trouble with the law, despite the story he would get out of it that he could share with Fred. There was a momentary pause where he wondered what his twin was doing in this place. Was Fred getting into mischief on his own? Was he clinging to family like George had?

Those thoughts were shoved aside as Cisco nearly backed into him. His hands came up and he promptly reached out to steady the older bloke. Right, spiders and Cisco did not seem to mix. His lips quirked into a smile just before the lights turned on. George let his gaze travel upwards towards the fairy lights. Thoughts of Fred, family, and other things vanished for a moment and without thinking he hugged Cisco from behind.

There was a sense of peace in this moment. The wounds on his soul were still there, but they were not digging quite as deep now. The arrival of Fred had clearly done a lot to help, but just being around Cisco was helping as well. Cisco didn't expect things of him, didn't look at him with pity or hurt, and he had his own issues.

They were just two blokes that somehow fancied each other.

"It's magical," his tone was amused and slightly awed. Muggles really could make such interesting things. "What a sight. Alright, mate, lights are on and you said you wanted to see the otters."

"Jail is the opposite of fun." He gave a laugh though either way, Cisco wasn't interested in bailing either of them out. Meddling with police records wasn't something he was fond of. Sure he'd done it in the past, but he wasn't interested if he could help it. It felt icky. They were supposed to be on the same side,he avoided it as much as possible.

Cisco was very much not a fan of spiders or bee's. He stayed on the opposite side of the wall full of bee's as far away as he could possibly get really. He had nearly died from one once, something like that left a scar. But then George's arms were around him as the lights turned n and any kind of spider or bee fear was pushed aside. He felt safe there with him, and wanted as an added bonus. "There's something else I want to do too, but maybe not in front of a bug house." He mused as his hand rested on one of the arms around him for a moment. He took one of those hands after looking at the lights for a few moments and reluctantly pulled away. "Come on.' As pretty as they were he wanted to get out of the bug exhibit now.

Eventually they'd reached a path where there was a trail that lead down to the otters. It was covered by exotic plants and things that lit up with different lanterns and fairy lights. He stopped to face him and pulled him in. This time he initiated a kiss, something soft at first, but then a little more heat a moment later. This was what he'd wanted to do not surrounded in bugs.

George was happy to let himself be led wherever Cisco was taking him. The zoo around them was lit up and it made the exhibits seem new. His attention wandered to everything around them as they walked. The warmth between their hands was a comfort and distraction at the same time.

"Hey, what type of plan-" George's question about the plants died on his lips as they stopped. Before he could ask why the sudden stop he found himself being kissed. He grinned into the kiss for a moment before returning the favor. A slightly surprised sound escaped him when the kiss turned a little more heated, but he didn't pull back from that kiss. No, he enjoyed every moment of the snog as he matched the enthusiasm with his own. His fingers ended up twisted in the front of Cisco's shirt, tugging at the fabric.

George finally pulled back with a dazed grin on his face.

Snogging in a zoo was now on his list of things he was a fan of in his life.

"Sooooo was this what you wanted to do because I am fan. Bloody big fan." George pulled him in for another snog as he laughed. Merlin, this was not how he thought his life was going to go. Things had changed, started transforming even, the second he arrived in Goodland. Cisco had helped shove happiness back into his life. Hugo and the others had helped as well, as did the arrival of his twin, but he most certainly did not want to snog any of them.

"What about the otters," he said as he pulled away again. "Didn't you want to see them?"

Who the hell knew? Well maybe Cisco would know about the plants, but the better question was, who cared then. All he cared about was kissing the man he was wit. Just not at the bug house where half the things creeped him out there. That wouldn't be very romantic at all. This was much better, lights, ambiance. A little bit of everything going for them, as if the lights were strung up for them specifically.

His hand rested on George's waist for a minute as he gripped the fabric there slightly and let that kiss linger for a moment. "This was exactly what I wanted to do." He returned the next one "Just you know, not as much around the bugs." He grinned when it broke and took his hand.

"Now we can go see the otters." He laughed and looked down at the little map, directing them toward the adorable little critters.
