Friday: New Besties
Who: Anna Lauren and Sam, with a cameo by Dax
Where: Dax's party
When: Evening
Anna Lauren wouldn't have thought that this many people could fit in a trailer and its surrounding yard, but evidently the flyers Dax had been putting up around town had had their desired effect. She wasn't entirely sure what she was doing here, because she barely knew the guy. Maybe she could chalk it up to not having anything else to do tonight. She still didn't have a job, and she was bored. So she was wandering around with a cup of beer in one hand, dressed in a tank top and shorts with her bathing suit underneath. She highly doubted that she'd want to swim, but it never hurt to be prepared.
Sam was making up for having sobered up earlier when Asia had gotten into trouble. He wasn't hung up on it, nothing bad had happened and he'd sent Asia on her merry way to interview people at the party so she seemed fine too. Why linger on negative things when there was no need? He had just fired off another text message to Torin to tell him he should totally come when he spotted Anna Lauren. They'd only met that one time but he already had her on a BFF pedestal and with alcohol only intensifying that, he squeaked and rushed toward her. "Oh my God it's my Be eff eff!" he shouted, not giving her much of a chance to brace herself before he'd hugged her, his bottle pressed against her back and some of the - fortunately not too sharp - spikes on his bracelet pressed against her shoulder. "You came," he laughed. "That's awesome!"
Beer sloshed over Anna Lauren's hand and arm as Sam grabbed her; fortunately, it was the opposite arm from the one her completely not waterproof watch was on. She started to giggle, grabbing hold of him with one arm and hugging him like he was her long lost best friend. "You're insane, but I kind of like it," she hollered back. He was so cute that she wanted to just squish him and then take him home to live in her closet and cheer her up when she got down. "I didn't have any big plans tonight or anything, so I figured why not?" she said of her appearance at the party, pulling back from him a little. "Oh! I have something for you!" She drank down a couple gulps of her beer, put the cup down on the nearby counter and started digging in the small messenger bag that was draped over one shoulder.
Sam bounced on the thick soles of his shoes excitedly. "It's not my birthday," he told her. "It's Dax's!" He watched her bag intently though, not taking his eyes off it even as he took a sip of his Vodka. "I hope you brought something for him too," he added when he was done wrinkling his nose at the after burn, grinning at her like a loon. "Or you'll just have to take part of the orgy to make up for it. You game for an orgy?" Yes, it was still a running gag, he'd be embarrassed about it later if he indulged in such a thing, but he rarely did and right now it didn't even cross his mind that the joke might be getting old.
Anna Lauren found the friendship bracelets she'd made for Sam and handed them to him with a flourish; they were a perfect blend of black, white, silver, skulls and Hello Kitty, just as requested. "I guess I could give him a bracelet," she said doubtfully. "I have a couple extras. Would he like something like that?" They looked like something Dax would wear, at least. She snorted when he mentioned an orgy. "As if! I have a bad enough reputation without getting it on with random people." He had to be joking. Didn't he? If this turned into a sex party, she was so leaving.
"Holy shit!" Sam blurted out, and then again, "Holy shit! These are awesome." He hadn't made her anything and now he wished he had, but the thought hadn't even occurred to him. He put his bottle aside on the nearest flat surface and fumbled with one of his bracelets until it came loose. "Here! It's not custom made or anything but you should have this. Wow this is like a bee eff eff marriage, exchange bracelets, I do." He put the leather bracelet on her wrist as he talked, not giving her much room for protest, then accepted the bracelets she'd made. "These are so fucking awesome, you are so cool," he told her and with that came another hug, all narrow limbs, leather and spikes.
That reaction was definitely worth the time Anna Lauren had put into making the bracelets. She was surprised that he gave her one that he was already wearing, but that was cool. "Are there rules for bee eff eff marriages?" she wanted to know, since that wasn't something she'd heard of before. "Thank you," she said, both for the bracelet and for his response to the ones she'd made. She smiled as he hugged her again, giving in to the urge to ruffle his hair. He was just adorable, and she thought maybe this was just what she needed: a BFF who liked affection. Most people, you couldn't just go around hugging, or they'd think something about it. She absolutely wouldn't hug the other Sam like this. Not because she didn't want to, but... yeah.
Sam thought about that, staring over her shoulder at nothing in particular as he tried to think of what might be a rule like that. "Oh, I think we're under moral abil-obligation to hate each others' exes," he finally decided. "Which so lets you off the hook 'cause I don't have any exes, not yet anyway. Oh, and I have to bring you ice cream if you're sad, I think. Is that whole ice cream thing true? The whole.. dressed up in pajamas, watching old movies and crying into a tub of ice cream? It always seems like such a cliche in movies but, I can totally see how it'd be kind of sweet."
"You can totally hate my ex," Anna Lauren said, rolling her eyes. "He's an asshole. And I've done the ice cream thing all by myself. It'd be amazing to have someone to cry into my pint of ice cream with me." It'd be awesome to have a slumber party with Sam, she decided, if her mom would agree to it. They wouldn't be having sex. Sam B. was cute, but she wasn't into him in that way. She wasn't sure if her mom would believe her, though. The whole pregnancy thing had dropped Anna Lauren's trust levels to bottom basement, despite her not having gotten into a bit of trouble since. So unfair.
"You've got yourself a deal and a raincheck on hating my ex," Sam said cheerfully. "And I love ice cream so you have yourself a date." He was on the same page as her, luckily, but then again Sam tended not to think of people in a romantic or sexual way unless they outright tackled him for it. Even then, it didn't always work to make him anything but giggly about it. "Have you been here before?" he asked her. "It's not a big place but I can give you a tour... Or a quick pointing guide to where what is and stuff."
"Nope, I've never been here," Anna Lauren replied, picking up her cup of beer before some cretin could slip a roofie into it and guzzling more of it down. "I never really talked to Dax but a couple of times." She shrugged a little. The guy had put up flyers all over town, so she didn't feel bad about being here. "Yeah, give me the tour. Why not?" She linked her arm through his, figuring it would be something to do for a few minutes that didn't involve orgies.
"Alrighty then!" Sam said and pointed forward before starting to walk. It really was a short tour, even shorter since the bedrooms were off limits. "And then there's the 'out there'," he concluded. "But we're not going there 'cause there's a creep out there who was messing with Asia. The pool area's alright though, bunch of people there. Wanna go?" He wasn't planning on swimming but it was nice out and he was playing a tour guide after all.
"Ew, pedo alert," Anna Lauren said, her nose wrinkling. To her, Asia Everhart looked about twelve, so that was just creepy. "Pool area sounds good." There were a bunch of people in here, too, and she was starting to feel a bit stifled. She thought that going outside would relieve that even if she didn't swim. She was just glad she'd found someone to talk to, because most of the people here she barely knew, or maybe knew of. Too much awkwardness and she would've just gone home.
"I know, right?" Sam huffed indignantly. He didn't really think of Asia but anything but a cute little girl, even if she was growing up really fast suddenly, but mostly he was associating 'pedo' with 'god damn perv' and what was The Turd if not that? He took a sip from his bottle and looked around. None of the people there seemed likely at all to get into an orgy and he was slowly, and finally, letting go of the joke. A song came on, one he particularly liked and he quite literally bounced around Anna Lauren in a not-quite dance. "Fuck, this party needs a mosh pit," he then exclaimed, grabbing her arm. "Do you mosh!" It was more of a warcry than a question and then he was off, headbanging and bouncing again, very nearly falling into the pool but catching himself before he did.
"I never heard of a mosh pit around a pool!" Anna Lauren yelled after him, then fell into helpless giggles. What else was she supposed to do? She had very rarely seen anything as hysterical as Sam B. dancing. If that was what she could call it. She slammed down the last of her beer and tossed the cup aside, watching avidly to see if Sam was going to fall into the pool. She'd hate for him to drown, because he was terribly amusing.
"Better than a mosh pit in a pool," Sam laughed, not caring that there were other people there laughing at his expense. He was having fun and if they were too then good for them! A mosh pit in a pool sounded like a recipe for disaster, though it could be awesome fun if people could breathe underwater. "There's Dax!" he exclaimed when he spotted Dax lounging around in his briefs alone. "You have to come kiss him happy birthday," he told Anna Lauren, grabbing her hand but not really pulling her with him. "I gave him like... Wow I lost count. Does that mean I have to start over? It was supposed to be eighteen, one for each year."
"You kissed Dax?" Anna Lauren said, a little bit startled by that. "Really?" That was kind of hot, actually. She was beginning to wonder just how drunk Sam B. was, between his almost manic behavior and his assertions that he'd kissed the birthday boy. Maybe that was just Sam. When he told her she had to kiss Dax happy birthday, she clutched his fingers, like she might be a scared, shy child trying to avoid a certain situation. "I can't kiss Dax," she protested. "I barely know him." What if somebody from school saw them and started a rumor that she was hooking up with Dax, or Sam B., or both?
"It's a great way to get to know him," Sam told her happily. "He's a great kisser. Maybe even a better kisser than a conversationalist." He grinned and pulled her with him toward Dax, not at all discouraged by her small protest. Of course he didn't care if she kissed Dax or not, but it was pivotal that his besties meet that night.
Dax was taking a break from socializing to people watch. A couple of people were dancing rather lewdly to the loud music just a few feet away from him and he was glad it seemed like some people were finally really loosening up. A few of the guys at the party were going around shirtless now, but he was the only one hanging out in anything less than that so far as he'd seen. It was a bit disappointing, but everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves so he couldn't complain. He sipped at his drink, then spotted Sam and Anna Lauren and waved at them with a big smile.
Once they got close enough to converse, Anna Lauren gave a little wave of her own and said, "Happy birthday." Was his birthday today or another day? She couldn't remember if the flyers had said. "So, um... cool party." It was definitely one of the more interesting parties she'd been to. The jock parties she'd attended when she'd been dating Darren had usually been boring, or lame, or both. She could only hope that none of the jock dudes were here tonight, because they'd run around talking smack about her, probably. Well, maybe not Cian or Emmanuel, but the rest? Ugh.
Sam was definitely overdressed by Dax's standards in all that leather with the extra sleeves and bracelets. He made up for it with enthusiasm, bouncing on his heels when they reached Dax. "Hi! I love this party, except for Mike the Turd but he left so, awesome. How are you? I told Anna Lauren she should give you a birthday kiss. She's my new bestie. Look what she made me!" He held up his arm with the bracelets, beaming at Dax as he rambled on.
"Nice," Dax said in regards to Sam's bracelets. He could tell that Sam was really enjoying himself, which was good and made him smile more. Before he turned his attention to Anna Lauren, he licked his lips. "I am accepting birthday kisses. I'm disappointed at how few I've collected so far. Maybe I should make next year's party entrance fee a kiss."
Anna Lauren was trying not to look at Dax too closely, because wow, he really wasn't wearing very much. At all. Of course, it was a pool party, but most of the other guys who'd gotten into the pool were wearing trunks. She kept her attention on his face and shrugged a little, saying, "If you do, you probably won't have many boys to show up." The vast majority of the guys in town would never kiss another guy, not even in jest. "If you want it to be mostly girls, I guess you'd be all set."
"It'd totally help weed out the narrow minded guys at least," Sam snickered before throwing his arms around Dax in a brief and somewhat clumsy hug. "I'm having so much fun, this party is awesome!" It played a big part that this party didn't have the usual droning pop music that most other parties had. He'd seen a few people mope about it but nobody had been allowed to change the music so that was good.
"You should have a costume birthday party next time," Anna Lauren suggested. "I know it's the middle of summer, but I think that would be cool." She snickered, unable to suppress her warped sense of humor despite not knowing Dax very well. "The winner has to blow you. You know, in honor of your birthday." If he made that known, that could either encourage or discourage participants, she guessed. She found it amusing, anyway.
"I like the way you think," Dax said with a chuckle. He sipped at his drink as he thought about their ideas for next year's party. This one was a more generic type of success, it seemed, and he was happy enough with that. "I should start getting people to blow me in honor of my un-birthdays, too."
"I love costume parties," Sam sighed happily. It really was the only time he could dress up all crazy without people hassling him for it, not that this stopped him from doing whatever he wanted and whenever he wanted. He laughed then, draping his arms over Dax's shoulders on one side and Anna Lauren's shoulders on the other. "I knew you'd get along, being my besties and all!"
Anna Lauren giggled. They were both kind of silly, but she didn't really have a problem with that. "I think to celebrate, I should go get another drink," she said. She might regret it later, when she was trying to drive herself to the ferry, but later was later. Maybe she could splash some cold water on her face to sober herself up right before she left. She gave Sam a squeeze and a kiss on the cheek and, after a brief hesitation, moved over to kiss Dax on the cheek, too. Because it was his birthday party and all, it'd be rude to kiss Sam and not to kiss him, too.
"Careful," Dax warned her in a low voice. "Once you start kissing me, it's hard to stop." He smirked and held back on the urge to capture her lips in a real kiss before she straightened up again. A kiss on the cheek like that was a sweet gesture, not a sexual one. Instead he snaked his free hand around Sam's waist and pulled him a little closer. "Just ask Sam."
Sam grinned widely at those words and then snickered softly, his attention on Anna Lauren. "I'm totally gay for this guy," he half-joked and pressed a kiss on Dax's cheek before leaning in and pressing one on her cheek as well. "Not all the way gay though, so maybe not totally. Just a bit."
"Sounds like eating potato chips," Anna Lauren said of Dax's comment that it was hard to stop kissing him. "You know, can't eat just one? Uhm." Her cheeks reddened. "I think I need to shut it, 'cause everything I say ends up sounding worse than I meant it." She giggled, not entirely sure what to think of the interplay between Sam and Dax. Maybe she'd ask her newest bestie at some later time what was going on there. "I need beer." Smiling at both of them, she disentangled herself and headed in the direction of the trailer, where she'd seen beer in the kitchen area.
"She's cute," Dax said to Sam once Anna Lauren had walked off. He still wasn't sure what he thought about actually doing anything with her, but at the moment he was just intoxicated enough to be of more of a one track mind than usual. "We should do her."
"No messing with my bestie," Sam murmured, poking him in the arm. "I wanna keep her." He wasn't surprised by Dax's words, Dax pretty much wanted to do everybody. "I'm so not choosing between you guys if it comes to that." He gave Dax a cheeky little smile. "Come on, let's go find you more birthday kisses instead."
