He'd be dumb to think there wasn't something behind this. It was, after all, a summons from a cousin who could probably extract Sirius's entrails from his body quite before he realized what she was doing. But that didn't make him any less curious about what she wanted from him. He was wary, and perhaps foolish to think a ring of muggles would stop her from acting but he reasoned, as he walked across the lawn with his best mate, that he'd have more of a chance of survival if he could get away quickly. Hackney Downs Park was familiar, Padfoot spent inordinate amounts of time pretending to be a friendly stray in the area and he knew the ins and outs of the park like the back of his furry paw. But, besides all that he had James and he trusted the man and their abilities together to get each other out of any sticky situation.
Sirius cast a sideways glance at his friend and offered a grin to show his confidence, one that matched his easy gait as they wandered across the lawn. Sirius recognized his cousin at a distance, and he could feel an immediate change in his demeanor as he approached.
Rigid and not quite so relaxed as he hoped he might pretend, Sirius stopped several yards from the woman and regarded her with unfathomable gray eyes. She looked the same as she always did, beautiful and untouchable.
