Severus rarely went out. When he did, more often than not it was business, errands for himself or one of his brothers - occasionally a quick skip down to one of the more shadowy bars in his neighborhood. There wasn't much call for social visits. He almost never felt inclined to make them in the first place, and even if he had, he was about as hopelessly out of practice as a man could be without actually becoming a dedicated hermit. Uncomfortable was a severe understatement.
But this thing with Rosier was at least part business, wasn't it, this arrangement they'd half-discussed in his darkened apothecary after hours. Nothing with a fellow follower of the Dark Lord could ever be called purely elective. That thought gave Severus the material he needed to convince himself, logically, that he had any place coming into Rosier's home, which was exactly the sort of home that always made him feel like finding a nice, dark corner and keeping out of sight until he could politely leave. But he'd been invited, and might even have an opportunity to do something for Rosier that Rosier needed, and he wasn't going to let the fact that he felt like he'd rather use the back entrance put him off. He'd been invited, and he didn't need anything more than that to knock with some measure of confidence at the door.
