Even from the parking lot of the Ritz-Carlton you could feel the emotion lingering in the air. Tonight was none other than the make it or break it moment for every highschool students dream, or so they say. To others it was an excuse to party, get drunk, or even find that first love. And from the look of the parked cars with steamy windows it was already underway.
Harleen Quinzel didn't show up in a huge limo with twenty people piled in. Nor did she look the part of flowing dresses with glitter and glam. This was only her Junior prom so she had another full year to do the statistical thing. For now though she flew into the parking lot in her Daddy's black Porche. She normally didn't get the reins of this little beauty but she was his only child and he did want to make it her magical night.
The thought of it crossed her mind and she smiled as she parked the small beast of a car. She had a date with her, though it was more or less just a pretty thing to be held on her arm. His name wasn't so much important as the muscles that settled well under the suit she forced him to buy. It was black on black with even a black tie. The only color on it was the red flower pinned to him
Naturally Harley was a lot more sensational than that, making herself the center of attention between the two. She opted for a short dress with black and white feathers for the bottom, a ruched silk midsection, and the jeweled sleeveless bodice. Her flowing blonde curls had been pinned back with a matching red flower. Her nails drummed on the steering wheel before she eyed him under heavily painted dark lids looking something of a 50's pin up girl. "Let's do this thing shall we?"
Her smile grew wide before she reached under the seat for a flask she had tucked away. She took a quick drink or five from it and made a puckered face before offering it to her companion. He politely shook it off before she neatly packed it back under the seat. "Y'know you won't last long if you're no fun."
She rolled her eyes at him before opening the door and delicately sliding out. Climbing out of the little roadster wasn't all the difficult in those tall heels of her. All her family owned was sports car. Daddy always loved the expensive things in life. She took several quick strides towards the entrance, before clambering through her clutch for the night. Harleen delicately snatched out some breath strips before approaching the entrance, shooting her hapless date a look before he made his way to her.
"Mrs. Martin!" The fake smile and emotion enveloped her as she approached at the front. A teacher had to stand watch as students came in to make sure they weren't sneaking anything in or out and that they had tickets for the aforementioned dance. "Just the two of us tonight." She squeezed the arm of her date and laid her head against his shoulder.
"Miss Quinzel you look stunning." The teacher smiled back as she took her tickets and nodded towards the entrance. "You two have a good time and stay out of trouble, you hear?"
Harley girl nodded enthusiastically as they made their way inside of the ballroom area and the fake facade was dropped again. Her eyes scanned the immediate area as she looked towards her date. "I'm parched, how about a drink honeybear?" She winked at him and watched him walk away.
Immediately afterwards she was surged by a group of cheerleaders all looking very coordinated in their pink sparkle gowns. "OMG Harley, you look so good. I wish I had the guts to wear that." The other girls nodded earnestly and she rolled her eyes at them.
"No guts no glory girls. Is everything set for the night?"
The oldest of the group spoke up, leaning in conspiratorial. "No one beats you for prom queen without a little pay back. It's all set."
Harley nodded to them and smiled putting her arms around the two closest. "Gals, I think this can be one the most memorable nights of our highschool career. Let's do it big." They all laughed and smiled.
It was on.
