The further away from the crowd they got, the more Tim's demeanor changed. The want and arousal and urgency in his body language was steadily being replaced by regret and frustration and a shift in priorities.
She stopped as soon as she saw the Redbird. In an instant it was clear what was going on. She gestured between the two of them in frustration at what wasn't happening.
He apologized for deceiving her, but she was getting too worked up to hear it. The promise in his body had been a lie.
"Let's go," she muttered, getting in the car. She'd stored her costume in their earlier, but changing clothes in it was going to be difficult. Worst evening ever.
