Re: The Atrium - Dick & Tim
It seemed to Tim that Dick thought he knew more about what was going on between him and Cassie than had actually transpired. Or did he? The meaning of the wink was obvious, and Tim would be lying to himself if he had not thought about Cassie in that way.
Whatever the case, he had to focus. At least for now.
He listened intently for the most part, only changing his outward appearance when a pair of girls strolled by now and then, throwing out random commentary on some of the other socialites in attendance, as well as bragging about his date. Of course those latter words had many threads of truth to them.
When Dick finally got to his offer, the only thing that he had not expected was his placement. Ever since the passing of Bruce and Dick taking the reins of the business, he had assumed it would be only a matter of time until he was formally called upon to participate in some function. He just had not predicted it would be with a new acquisition from none other than Oswald. And so high a one, too. It was more than just a high level position, it would be a matter of status, too. For being the heir to the Drake family fortune, and the partially heir to the Wayne was one thing, this quite another. If he accepted he would be rubbing shoulders with the business elite of Gotham on a regular basis while helping to promote and expand Magnum R&D.
He did have a tremendous work load already as Dick pointed out, but fortunately school did not happen to be hard for him. It was more his time in the cowl that he worried about, but this was not an offer he could well refuse. Because he saw the opportunity just as plain as Dick did.
"Of course", he said. "Will Oswald remain in charge, then?" He would not be real fond of it were that the case, both in having to work directly with him and the ever present threat of some grand betrayal, but it would allow him to keep a closer watch on him than ever before. That would probably be the biggest sacrifice in any of this.
