Re: The Lounge - Cass and Tim and Open
Everything was going grand. Cassie loved the necklace, and Tim swore it seemed at times as though she was walking on air, the way she moved around ever so happily. He tried to think of a time in which she had ever showed this much care free emotion, but could not come up with a single moment, which both elated and saddened him to a degree. For though he was more than pleased to see her in such a state, he deeply regretted not having done something like this with her sooner.
The other thing about all of this were her kisses. He would go in, quick and innocent. And then she would pull him down to her for a scene worthy kiss. The first time it kind of embarrassed him, but he had laughed and done the same thing again anyway. And now he welcomed that particular reaction of hers every time he expressed some intimacy toward her.
He was on the verge of saying somewhere while they were on their way to the refreshment table, when he heard some comments that made his blood boil. When Cassie turned to look at the girls he gave her hand a squeeze and stepped around her.
He walked to the girls.
"I don't believe you know my date", he said as he approached. Cassie could not see his eyes, but there must have been something to them on account of the way the girls seemed to shrink back before his presence.
"Her name is Cassandra Cain, and she teaches self defense at the Park Row community center. Each mark she bares is a sacrifice she has made for the benefit of those not able to defend themselves. She is strong, courageous, and in my own opinion the most beautiful girl I have ever met, both inside and out."
He let that sink in a moment, before adding, "Which is more than I can say about any of you. With your trust funds, fake designer clothes, and plastic surgery. What have you ever done for this city, but contribute to its social decay?" When they said nothing, as bullies typically tended to do when actually confronted he turned away, disgusted.
As he walked away he called back, without looking, "If I hear another word about my girl I will have you thrown out this place."
Tim took Cassie's hand, kissed it, and continued toward the refreshments.
