Re: The Perch - Observatory → Vicki Vale & Dick Grayson
The evening was going as expected, and Dick waited patiently, knowing that in time he'd be meeting with The Peng- with Louis Oswald - and discussing business. He was also pretty sure he'd spotted Harleen Quinzel, and wasn't entirely sure he was ready for a reunion with her. They'd ended on a poor note, about a year ago. Not that they had ever actually started, but there was still baggage there. At least for Dick. And he wasn't about to ruin Liz's comeback debut for the public.
So when they separated to mingle, he decided to step away, making his way to the observatory. Say what he would about the Penguin, the man had tastes that Dick could appreciate. Doing business with him might even lead to a positive result. So what if he couldn't trust the man for two seconds? Keep your enemies close.
Conveniently enough, one such potential enemy - or at least danger - was already up here, enjoying her own break, shoes off and red dress rocking her figure.
Dick had ascended the flight of stairs silently, as was habit, and didn't speak right away, not wanting to disrupt the intrepid reporter. He walked up to the telescope and peered inside. To break the silence and announce his presence, Grayson said in an honestly impressed tone, "they actually found the International Space Station! That must have taken some work." It was a powerful telescope.
