NPCs: Adam Courtland, Other officers
Where: The alley, outside of Adam Courtland's apartment.
When: Monday, September 17th.
What: Bristol and Gordon are called to a crime scene that has the signs of a professional hit, in Uptown. The victim is one Adam Courtland, a mid-level executive at Wayne Aerotech.
Rating: PG-13, for language.
Status: In Progress.
When Jim got the assignment this morning it took him a little by surprise. Normally they would have sent one of the other teams to go check out the death of someone connected to Wayne but at this point the whole damn precinct was up in arms about Bruce's death that no one wanted to focus on anything else. To him, it was just damn laziness. So he got saddled with the death of a mid level work of Wayne Enterprises - one Adam Courtland.
The write up was short and sweet of what happened and it was his job to see what else was going on with the murder. Though only to complicate thing he got put with a new partner, at least for this case, Miss Barbara Gordon. For the most part no one wanted to work with her. What with all the shady cops that worked in the department, and others idolizing who her father was (or even hating him) it probably made her life a little difficult.
To put it bluntly - Jim could give a rat's ass. If she knew how to do her job, didn't set him up to be killed, and could handle her own with any ... woman problems, then he would be okay with it. He had already grabbed a cup of black coffee before he slapped the papers on her desk and nodded. "Saddle up kid, you're with me today."
The kid wasn't derogatory, but was rather just a term he used a lot. He grabbed his jacket as he made his way out of the office, wearing his blues today with a matching faded overcoat. Honestly, he wasn't much of a talker and he had just assumed she would want to read over the workup that he had got of the death while they were walking.
In fact, he didn't even check to see if she was behind him until he reached the car to check her progress with following. "Ya comin' or not?" He unlocked the door, and got inside the police cruiser starting it up with ease. He took care of his car as much as possible, not like a lot of these young rookies who treated them like they were replaceable. Maybe all those years as a mechanic didn't hurt though.
He turned on the heater and took a long gulp of his black coffee as he flipped on the radio listening to some sports radio. He then eyed her before slipping his sunglasses on. "I know this aint your first rodeo kid, and I'm not gonna treat you like it is. This connection to Wayne I feel like somethin' else is brewin' here and we need to play our cards close to heart."
With that he threw it in reverse and they were on their way to Adam's uptown apartment to see what they could dig up.
