Rebellious Love Even lawless vagabonds need love! Love is what drives us all, whether it be platonic, familial or romantic. And, of course, that romantic love is the most interesting type of all, isn't it? Here at Witch Weekly, we wondered what the love lives of the Rebels were life. How can one date if they are constantly attempting to overthrow the government and evade capture.
Well, luckily for us, a friendly Rebel let a bit too much slip. And we have the scoop for all of you!
The Lothario Twins It appears that two twins are making things a bit too complicated for themselves. The Daily Prophet leaked that Ivy Montgomery had defected and was in a relationship with Fred Weasley, but we've recently learned they are living together. That got serious awfully quick, didn't it? And word around the Rebel campfire is that no one is happy about their union at all. Miss Montgomery is, after all, a former Wandholder. Still, she's clearly charmed Fred with her… shall we say, assets? Of course, not to be outdone by his brother, George Weasley is rumoured to be in a suddenly serious relationship of his own with Penelope Clearwater. Our readers likely have no idea who this witch is, but our source has informed us that she is the former fiancee of the late Percy Weasley. Yes, you read that correctly. George Weasley went and scooped up his dead brother's former love.
Just Friends? Sometimes, all we get are glimpses in the journals and bits of gossip passed along. So, while we cannot confirm this story, we feel confident enough to pass along the possibility to you. Neville Longbottom had his heart utterly shattered by Ginny Weasley. After the Rebel was left by a woman seeking much greener pastures, who was left to clean up the pieces? Our source tells us that Mr. Longbottom has been widely missing in action, but… so has Helen Dawlish. We're told these two are simply friends, but they do seem to be gone at the same time quite often. Is it possible Mr. Longbottom has already forgotten about the witch who got away?
Families Torn Apart
As in many wars, the family bonds aren't always strong enough to keep people on the same side. Everyone knows the Weasleys are the perfect example of this. While the only daughter is perhaps the loudest example of going against the family's wishes, it's important to mention the other Weasley who isn't flying the Rebel banner. Charlie Weasley has returned to England and he is not taking up arms against the Ministry! Shocking! Mr. Weasley, who this reporter simply must point out is the best looking of all the Weasleys, appears to be staying out of the fight all together. We aren't sure how this will work for him long term. After all, when your family is at war, eventually you have to choose. And it isn't only Charlie Weasley who is caught between his family and his beliefs. We found out recently that the eldest Weasley offspring, Bill, has separated from his wife and come back to England. You all my recall the beautiful Fleur Weasley from her time as a participant in the Triwizard Tournament. Now, it seems, she'll only be remembered for not being enough to keep Bill happy.
There are other families torn apart by the war as well. The Higgs family, with only two children, faces a similar rift. Terence Higgs, star player of Puddlemere United, remains free while his young sister, Amelia, fights with the rebels. We don't know how the two are dealing with this, but our sources say it's a struggle.
Of course, we can't let this column end without mentioning the largest rift in magical families. Draco Malfoy, son to Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy, has reportedly been disowned by his father for continuing to fight alongside the Rebels! Word has it that Mrs. Malfoy is enraged and this may be the final straw in a marriage that seems destined to fail.
The Next Golden Trio?
Ron Weasley is no stranger to trios. Part of the infamous Golden Trio, Mr. Weasley is, as far as we all know, engaged to Disciple Hermione Granger. But, our source let it slip that Mr. Weasley has been spending all of his time in the company of Susan Bones. Miss Bones is also looking quite pregnant these days. Could this be the start of a new family? This story would be salacious enough on its own, but apparently Mr. Weasley's fondness for trios has stuck with him. We learned that Mr. Weasley and Miss Bones are also involved with one Death Eater turned Rebel, Mr. Draco Malfoy! And, from what we are told, the three of them are currently cohabitating together. The shock of it all astounded even this seasoned reporter.
Mr. Weasley's fiancee, Hermione Granger appears to be suffering from a mental break. Could it be the utter betrayal of her first love that send her over the edge? And what could possibly be the reason that Mr. Weasley would so easily forget the woman he claims to love in favor of two people who are, let's be honest, far too attractive and rich for him?
Well, we have an idea as to the appeal, but it's not quite something one mentions in polite society.
Fight or Flight? Are the Rebels Falling Apart?
The Ministry has presented the Rebels as a lawless group of angry children, shouting at their parents for changing the rules. The Rebels, on the other hand, swear to be the nobel fighters of injustice. Obviously neither of these can be totally true. So, we found ourselves wondering… who are the Rebels? What are they doing? Well, it turns out what they are mostly doing is… fighting with each other.
Our sources tell us that a lot of the drama around the Rebels has come from them not agreeing with each other. We're told that there is no leadership, no sense of purpose, and constant bickering. Rebels are angry about who other Rebels are dating. Rebels are angry because people are worried about romance. Rebels are angry because they view themselves to be old and above all the bickering. We were even told that some notable Rebels have run off on more than one occasion, basically taking their toys with them and storming off.
It makes their attacks on law abiding citizens all the more clear, does it not? These are nothing but angry, bitter, and childish witches and wizards with such privilege. Most of the known rebels come from good families. Most of them could have very successful lives if they weren't breaking the laws. And, from what we have been told, the Rebels always seem to get the money they need somehow.
So, what's the point of rebelling? Why do they do it? It's starting to seem as though they do it just to have something to fight about.
Will Society Ever Welcome Them Back?
With more and more Rebels being taken into custody by the Wandholders and the first successful completion of the Rehabilitation Program, many of us are left to wonder if society can, or should, welcome Rebels back into our world. Should we forgive their mistakes? Can we overlook the damage they've caused? We hit the streets to ask ordinary citizens one question.
Can the Rebels ever really come home?
Juniper MacFusty, 22: I mean, sure,if they are really sorry and stop trying to kill people. Our Minister was a Death Eater, for Helga's sake. Everyone can redeem themselves.
Arabella Slughorn, 54: No, not at all. These brats belong in prison.
Betty Baddock, 36: Possibly. It really depends on how long they carry on with this nonsense.
