Yesterday had been rough, no doubt about it, but the best thing to do now, Val thought, was to immerse herself in something completely unrelated to the situation. And that's how she found herself at Simon McLaggen's family home, flopped on the bed in his room as he tossed clothes out of his closet in a desperate bid to find something to wear. She wasn't even going to try to pretend she understood the Cho and Cormac match, but they seemed happy so she wasn't going to judge. And Simon was clearly thrilled.
She could feign enthusiasm for his sake--after all, as far as anyone knew, she had no reason to be miserable today. Val was single, just as everyone thought she always had been.
"I can't believe you didn't have something picked out like the day after Cormac told you he was getting married," she teased him lightly as she pushed up on her elbows to sit up and sit cross-legged on his bed.
