I could go for a good dry white," he remarked, letting his gaze scan over the menu, his current focus on the starters listed. "Perhaps we could start with the leeks; I think that would pair famously with a fine white wine... and if not, we can always ask the advice of the sommelier here."
It wouldn't be the first time he'd referenced the aid of a decent restaurant's sommelier.
"You say that as though I'd want anyone but myself to outdo me here... although I can assure you," he continued, his smile undeniably widening as he regarded her, momentarily setting down his menu, "I would absolutely outdo myself, and effortlessly at that." Of that she could be certain.
