I'm sure you are correct on the hummingbirds - they are migratory here, so they must be the ruby-throated. The only birds we have that winter and are quite visible in the cold are the chickadees. I'm told that the squirrel feeder can double as a bird feeder in the winter months, and the chickadees will be thrilled to have a dry place to get seed. I've already seen them inside checking out the squirrel nuts and snatching little pieces, so it will be fun to get pics of them this winter doing just that!

Awww, yes it will be fun to see the little guys coming in and nabbing a meal. I gather you get lots of snow in winter? I'm glad that in CA the snow stays at Tahoe where it belongs :D

Normally I would say it doesn't snow that much here...a couple of inches at a time about twice/three times a winter. It snowed about a dozen times last year. Being a Florida born and raised girl, it is still quite a natural shock to me. ;)

The most fun with that is seeing what animal tracks I get in the backyard after a snow. I've had birds, rabbit, racoon and bobcat. We have alot of wildlife around here. I keep the birdseed in an outdoor metal garbage can so the fuzzy critters can't raid it.

Apart from the birds, we get raccoons, squirrels and hares around here. The raccoons raid the dumpster, but otherwise it's all good.
