Team Snitch Entry (FIC): "D For Defender" by Amand-r
Title: D For Defender
Author: Amand-r ([info]amand_r)
Team: Snitch
Genre(s): Alive and Kicking (EWE)
Prompt(s): Green Lantern, Enemy At The Gate
Rating/Warnings/Kinks: NC-17; Highlight if you wish to know: *contains fisting, some violence. Some canon deaths ignored. Also? Kinda cracky.*
Word Count: 28,000+ some
Author Notes/Disclaimers/Betas Thanks to [info]jadzialove for being the best sidekick beta evar, cleaning up parts 1-3. [info]joanwilder, aka Alfred, hit all of it, especially part 4, with a batarang of spag. All italicized bumper quotes from The Tick: The Animated Series.

Summary: There's a man stalking the Wizarding world. Or a bat. Maybe a Man-Bat. Severus is probably having an affair, Harry's tired all the time, oh, and those drunks out in East Anglia are complaining about the green lights. Again.

Well, fuck me. That was BRILLIANT. I really haven't the first clue about The Tick (hmm, somewhat like last year's Grosse Pointe Blank situation) but now as then, you've written something superb. You have a way with the little details like the burnt Starbucks and whether it will burn the grass. I like this Ginny and let me tell you that happens NEVER. She's smart and sassy-god, if this were canon Ginny, I'd let her marry Harry. ;) Loved Severus's Cape, the way he handled Harry at breakfast the morning after lol and his whole running gag with Ginevra. I adored that Harry thought he was having an affair because they were fucking all the time. And seriously, if that fisting wasn't the HOTTEST opening for a fic EVAH I'll eat my damn hat. HOLY FUCK! OK, longest comment ever but must comment on Percy and the nastiness-god, what a horrible thing and yet sooo believable. *shakes head* Poor Draco and the rest. Fucking amazing fic, hon. A-MAZ-ING.

I'm the first commenter! Poor you, since my comments are usually pants and other people do so much better than I. ;p

I always know before I even start a story of yours I will love it, and it will be filled with a ton of giggles, snorts and nailbiting. I have learned NOT drink a beverage of any type as well. (Good thing too, because I laughed endlessly). But you can also tag me with the "oh NO" creepy moments and they can flip between the two incredibly fast! I wish they could make your stories into movies...you combine action and sentiment and the wittiest dialogue EVAH. Mystery too...I truly didn't see that ending coming; I pegged somebody else.

The Justice League scene was the best! I've had writers tell me they found it hard to keep track of so many players but you seem to pull it off flawlessly. Thanks for a really fun Ginny (I like HER, just not with Harry). Everybody's dialogue with each other was brilliant! And yay, our favorite guys saved the world again!

This story reminded me why I adore your writing SO much.

Punchy thriller-type plot, sharp dialogue, awesome Snarry sex (and lots of it!) and a great supporting cast - I loved house-husband Ron, and Colin tweeting. I've never heard of The Tick, but that didn't matter a bit. Thanks for the entertainment!

I'm filled with admiration for anyone who can pull humorous Snarry off like this. You know my ribs hurt from laughing, on several occasions. Ginny was a hoot, Romilda was inspired, and how much did I love that the twins and Angelina's relationship (working and otherwise). The fisting, GAH, the FISTING scene was a great start to the story, and I loved every single scene between Harry and Snape in this: a mature marriage where they clearly loved and respected each other. Hermione's caffeine addiction, Ginny and Harry's nicknames, the communication using the comms, Ron's stay-at-home scene, I could go on and on.

And you have an ingenious plot, and I want the Cape for Christmas. I loved that Umbridge is still *cough* working at the Ministry, and that Percy and Draco had some screen time.

What a great job you did with this. And I'll be the second to stand up and say that you certainly outwrote me on this one. I'm so proud of you, and it has nothing (well, almost nothing) to so with who you are!

Absolutely loved it. I think that was the best opening scene ever, nobody would want to stop reading after that!
Oh, and I really loved your Ginny...I wish more authors would portray her as you do.

Thank you!

Wonderful comedy! Loved Severus and Harry’s relationship and how they bantered easily with each other, the action scenes were stunningly executed, and the attention to detail was awesome. But what I really loved about this fic was that it made me laugh, sneak my nose closer to the screen, hitch my breath, drop my jaw, make me hot and bothered and then laugh yet again. Brilliantly written!

Loved it! It grabbed me from the very beginning (well, of course it did, that's some opening scene!), and didn't let go. Funny and utterly riveting. Man-bat is so cool, Ginny is so likeable and Harry's voice is really engaging and appealing, Despite the clues along the way, I have to confess I hadn't tied it all together for the final shoot-out scene - I mean, I knew ______ was involved, but didn't realize that ______ was the main villian of the piece.
Funny & sexy & so smile-inducing! What a fantastic story!

Oh, this is perfect in so many ways! *flails*
Where to start... um, the beginning is a good idea, don't you think?^^
The first part is hilarious! Love Harry's fatigue shining through in that comical way that made me giggle the whole time.^^
After that, it became less permanent-giggles-inducing, but without loosing the absolutely funny Harry-voice that kept me smiling and chuckling every few sentences.
I guessed that that Man-Bat-Thing was Severus (I mean, "overgrown bat"?^^), but it still startled me when the mask slipped and Harry saw that it was Severus.
Also adore his cape!*-* And (and how strange is that?!?) Ginny! You made her very likable and funny and I found myself actually liking her! *is shocked*
Ron and Hermione were brilliant, too; love the idea of Ron staying at home (after he lost the coin toss!^^) and Hermione's fancy coffee thingies (Bertie Botts Syrup is an awesome idea!:DD).
Also, Percy and Penelope's plan to make sure the criminals are harmless is creepy and totally IC! I can so see Perce feeling responsible and thinking he has to do something against it! *shivers*

Um... okay, I'll continue with more random flailing:
There was fisting! *squee* And though Severus was on the recieving end he still had the control, allowing Harry to come... OMG!!! *flails*
Love the panic room/Batcave (and Severus' crawling into that closet before we know what is behind/in it! I was like WTF??? :D).
The scene at Malfoy Manor was heart-wrenching; Astoria being pretty obviously miserable and Draco sitting at that desk babbling and drooling and little Scorpius watching him fall apart (I think that was kind of the way you phrased it?); that made me all teary-eyed!;.;
Love how Harry tells his friends about his suspicion that Severus has an affair and each and every one of them tells him that's rubbish!^.^ (And of course it is; Severus would never cheat on Harry, now would he?^^ *lost in her naive little snarry dream world*^.~)

You know, I could go on and on about all the wonderful aspects of this, like the morning after Harry saw Man-Bat was Severus (the eggs! And the conversation!XD), or these code names (Colin's is so... *headdesk* But Snitch is great! And I can understand why Harry doesn't use Ginny's name often.^_^), or 'Milda and the Muggle technic stuff, or the twins and the thing they try to build, and then you reveal that they did it for Severus, and Severus lying under tons of pillows, trying to catch up on the sleep he doesn't get at night, and the way it all started (XD How funny that he just happened to be in the right place at the right time to stop those thieves and burglars!^^), or Hermione berating everyone for their mistakes in hiding and then Severus startles her.:D

Um, okay, this comment is much longer than it was supposed to be, but that's kinda your fault^.~: The story is just full to bursting with wonderful, funny, interesting, entertaining details that stick to my brain like Flubberworm innards under fingernails.
(And what a disgusting simile is that? o.ô)
Anyway... this has to be my favourite Games fic so far. Brilliant, and I really mean BRILLIANT fic; Thank you for writing it.

WOW! Too many fun, and funny, things to comment on each one, but *takes breath* the CAPE OMG, Snape, the opening scene (so totally my favorite kink, & you did it so brilliantly!), Ginny!!!!! I love this Ginny. Ginny is awesome when she gets to be unabashedly her best self, a bad-ass with a dictatorial bent and a very strong ego (read: her brothers' tomboy sister and a slightly spoiled youngest only girl).

Harry's fatigue just oozes from him in the entire first part and is both comical and concerning. Good thing the case seems to wake him up! Ron and Hermione, Fred & George & Angelina, Romilda and Colin, are all awesome. Draco is so sad!!!!

Also loved the Cape, Snape, Snape's panic room with its cereal-cupboard entrance, Hermione with her beaded hold-all bag on a stakeout! HAhahahaha. The stair-climbing spell, Snape, the coffee-bar (bear?) banter, the lovely details of Snape and Harry's home life (and OMG yes, their sex life), the Cape, Snape as a pissy put-that-BACK-NOW unlikely crimefighter, and everyone laughing at Harry's suspicions about Snape having an affair.

Pretty much all of it, in fact. I don't know your crossover, but that was a minor impediment to enjoyment. The energy and glee in this were awesome!

Ah, that was awesome. I'm envious of your ability to both create and intriguing plot/mystery AND make it funny. I love, love Snape declaring to ginny that he is the Night. All the characters are excellent, but I think I liked Ron the best, personally. The scene when Harry goes over for lunch? Excellent.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I read it again. You win at teh funneh!

Sersiously. I love how your mind works and envy it just a little bit. The cool gadgets, the original magic, the chapter titles, the Tick quotes... Cape! Harry scratching his head about the cereal cupboard. In fact, Harry was perfection, exactly how I like him funny, a touch self-deprecating, seemingly a tad over his head, but somehow, ultimately being the sanest one in the room. Actually, all of the characters were perfection. I loved Ginny---that's how I imagine her in canon. Of course my favorite by far was Ron's Mr. Mom scene and his surrender to the chaos is Awesome x a billion.

You even made me enjoy a fisting scene. That's just crazy. And so are you---in the best way possible.

Excellent effort!

Harry read the side of the bottle sceptically; he wasn't too fond of beets to begin with, and putting it in his coffee sounded obscene and vaguely Russian. The last thing he wanted to taste was caffeinated borscht.

heh. You have a friggin' AWESOME random sense of humour! Poor Harry, I really was hoping he'd get a good cup of coffee in the end. Nice running gag, though. heh. BEETS!

Really great storytelling, lovey! Vibrant characters, roadblocks, lurking evil, Severus and Cape flapping in the night - I mean, really, what's not to love?

Great work, my fellow snitchy-pooh!

and yeah, if DJ asks for fisting, what can we do, really? It's like saying no to those marshmallow sugar-bananas. Can't be done!

When I first read the phrase Man Bat, I thought well here we go again, another take on batman, but this was so much better. OK so I guessed from the beginning that Severus was Man Bat it seemed obvious seeing as it wasn't Harry and I don't think Ron would do something like that. I loved Ginny, the dynamics in her's and Harry's relationship was just brilliant and the fact they had a *son* James, was kind of a nice twist. I couldn't believe you made Ron a 'house-husband' *sniggers* he seemed to take to it though 'like a duck to water'. The twins as always are a joy *Fred was ALIVE!* and seemed to be sharing Angelina, nice one guys. I love the idea of them opening a detective agency.

We are so lucky (as readers) that we are continually getting such wonderful stories, this fest is shaping up to be one awesome fest.

That has to be a contender for the 'Best Opening Ever' Award!!

Where to start in my praise...? Loved Harry and Sev's marriage, the bickering but underlying love and devotion. So real.

Actually liked Ginny for a change, felt you did a really great job there.

So many quirky humourous quips and asides! Loved that.

What a staggering talent you have!! Your fic is mind blowing. Each phrase is chiselled with much care, the day to day, incredibly full of humour and details, really fun to read, and your characterizations are incredible. Your Ginny is worth an awe: I've never cared for the character because I'm an incorrigible slasher, but yours not only makes me like her, but gives me the desire to have a friend like her. If I think about her in 10 years, this is exactly how I picture her. The dialogues and banters really good (the 'snich' nickname made me howl with laugh). Some scenes are worth a gold medal, like the one when Harry is in a crime scene with a coffee in his hand: I couldn't help but think of X-files and NCIS :-)) But above all else, what put a very big goofy smile on me is the fact that all your fic baths in a warm sense of family. I don't know how to put that feeling into word, and I'm sure I can't point any phrase or paragraph for that, but it's here. The Wesley family, Hermione, Harry and Severus, thanks to, I don't know, the banter, the dialogue, the ambiance, are all included in a joyous, strong link that talk about friendchip and family. I've never read something like that.
Thank you for that jewel... :))))

You are brilliant. I love this!! I still can't stop laughing at Man Bat and the wonderful multitude of witty-ness. I love "What, was everyone packing some sort of incendiary device?" and there are so many other lines I love that I can't type them all there. I love your Ginny, if only she could have been that way in the books, then it wouldn't have been so bad. All the characters work so wonderfully well together. The fisting in the beginning is so hot and the ending is perfect. Magnificent work!!!~Sophia
