I think what was going through Snape's mind when Harry told him was *headdesk* *headdesk* *headdesk* and "damn it!" If I remember correctly, and it's been some time now since I read the fic, Snape never says "it wasn't me" or anything like that. Maybe you're thinking about the immediate aftermath of the first time they have sex in a horizontal position and Snape apologizes and says something on the order of, "I'm no good at this. This isn't what I do,"? If that's the part you're talking about then in my head Snape means he pretty much only does the anonymous bathroom sex, he has no real experience, or at least no recent experience, of "making love". The only exception would be Walter, but Walter is a Muggle and basically just a toy, not an equal, no real affection and no real attempt at give and take. I could be wrong. This is Snape we're talking about, and who knows what really goes on in his head.

	OK, thanks I think I get it now. I was thinking in reverse :) It's that the Snape we saw when he meets Harry for the first time in 20 years is so different and more calm. I thought that he was more into relationships rather than the other way around. But your explanation clears things up. And yeah, I did mis-remember the statement Snape made. Now I'm kind of intrigued. You think this Snape is calm? Because that wasn't my intent. He doesn't tear Harry a new one as often as Harry thinks he's going to, but then in canon he's not quite the beast that Harry thinks of him as being. Still, he belittles Harry when he can, throws him out regularly, excoriates James, treats Ron and Neville like shit.

"You are utterly without imagination, aren't you? Shut your fucking mouth before I shut it for you." That seems to me to be a fair example of how he talks to/treats Harry in this fic. I guess I see him as somewhat calmer, but 20 years have passed where he's not had to be a spy and hasn't had Harry as a daily abrasive.

	I mean that he seems calmer than he was in the books and movies. He didn't seem to get riled as easily and seemed to have more tolerance. I didn't mean that he had lost his edge. Probably that he had found some satisfaction in his life and he didn't need to be so bitter so he probably didn't have as much anger to fling at people. (Reply to this) (Parent)
