2008 Snarry Winter Games are about to begin!
The 2008 Snarry Winter Games will officially begin posting today, on April 19, 2008.
We will post TWICE a DAY, one per team - DRAGON & PHOENIX, until all the entries are in: 70 total. SEVENTY! Special posting arrangements are given to fics of exceptional length.
At the end of it all, we will allow approximately one week for the judges to have time to catch up on their voting for the Games entries. After that, we take the polls down, and the mods will begin the count. During the voting Hiatus, there will be more entertainment; stay tuned.
There will be NO POSTS at our Livejournal community.
We have a Livejournal RSS FEED over there that people can watch. We thank you all for your support during our move to safer waters.

You can only vote once, but you can go in and change your original vote right up until the polls are locked for the final tally (just click on the poll, then click again on "Fill Out Poll", which will give you your previous numbers). Other than seeing your own, the poll results will be visible only to the Snarry Maintainer (aka
djin7/snarrymod). She cannot be bought.WHO CANNOT VOTE:
CURRENT Team Dragon and Phoenix Members, Snarry Games Mods, and those who do NOT have a Insanejournal account or OpenID (IJ does not support anonymous voting). However, anyone can review and comment! And pimp. Pimp your favourites and your teammates' entries far and wide!
Please vote responsibly. The mods work very hard counting all the polls up manually, and we do not appreciate the extra time it takes to delete Null votes and Troll votes. Thank you.
**IMPORTANT NOTE** The first two questions must be judged impartially. You can find an entry not to your personal tastes, but still appreciate that it was well representing of its genre(s) and/or prompt(s). Be fair when you consider these criteria, and judge responsibly. The last question is subjective; How much did YOU like this entry overall?. Here, and only here, is where your personal tastes and preferences should be part of the judging process. For more info, please see below.
1. HOW DOES THE POLL WORK?
Each entry will have its own poll, and it will look like this:

Open to: All, results viewable to: NoneOn a scale of 1 to 9 (9 being the highest), how well did this entry represent its PROMPT(s)?
On a scale of 1 to 9 (9 being the highest), how well did this entry represent its GENRE(s)?
On a scale of 1 to 9 (9 being the highest), how much did YOU like this entry overall?
The polls will remain open for up to one week after the last entry is posted. The polls will then be CLOSED FOR COUNTING.
Each entry will have its own average (Average is: a value that is computed by dividing the sum of a set of terms by the number of terms) i.e.:
#1 Team Snarry Entry
Prompts: Average vote = 7/9
Genres: Average vote = 6/9
Overall: Average vote = 9/9
Each average will then be CONVERTED to POINTS:
Grand Total = 22 points out of a possible 27.
#2 Team Snarry Entry
Prompt: Average vote = 5/9
Genres: Average vote = 5/9
Overall: Average vote = 7/9
Grand Total = 17/27 points
Total Points (cumulative) for Team Snarry, TWO ENTRIES = 39/54. And so on...
Grand Total possible points for either Team is 945.
Whichever team has the highest point total WINS THE GOLD MEDAL of SNARRY!
*IMPORTANT NOTE* Because we use this system, it is possible for you to skip a question. What this means is, if for some reason you cannot seem to answer a question fairly or objectively - you can skip it, and just vote for the ones that are clear to you.
2. Do you warn for character death or extreme content?
The Snarry Games warns for character death, Under 18, and extreme content. We simply use a format where the warning is invisible, like this:
Warnings: Drag mouse over space if you wish to know: * Major character death. Torture. Extreme violence. Harry is 17 in this Fic *
This way prevents anyone from seeing anything that they do not want to see, be it spoilers or the story in question. PLEASE do not force yourself to read and vote on an entry you would normally not want to read. Please HEED these warnings.
