I've been first pick and last pick in team situations, and the pain of being last was never lessened by the joy of being first. Having to deal with that kind of thing in order to play in the Games wouldn't sit well with a lot of people, I'd imagine, artists or writers.
Also? Having assigned collaborative projects (and it's never mattered whether my students picked their partners or not), I know the sorts of wank that can result and can't imagine it being any different in a fandom context. I realize that we're all being optimistic and assuming the best of one another, but that may just be the happy Snarry haze blinding us to myriad issues that always crop up during collaborations, so I'm very nervous about the idea—in spite of finding it intriguing, but then, I have to be an optimist as a teacher, don't I? ;)
