The first day you met him, you sneered at his hair, frowned at his cocky attitude and shook your head at his endless dumb luck.

The first time you touched his hair, it was soft as silk beneath your fingers, so you never mocked it again.

The first time he kissed you, out of the blue, when he was supposed to be serving detention, you decided that his attitude had its advantages.

And the night he returned from the battlefield, crawled into your arms, broken and battered, but thankfully alive, you couldn't say a word against his luck anymore, either.
