Harry’s apprehension was apparent as he watched Severus. He’d been unsure about buying it, but in the end he decided that it was necessary.

Severus just stared, silently.

"Well, what do you think?" Harry asked, unable to stand the suspense any longer.

"It’s red."

"It’ll taste the same," Harry faltered.

Severus turned to him with a smile. "For me?"

"Obviously, is that alright?"

Taking Harry into his arms, Severus squeezed his eyes shut, trying to keep the tears from escaping.

"Of course, it’s just....I’ve never had....it’s my first birthday cake ever."
