Welcome Baby!

The following note goes out to the Lovegood-Longbottoms, the Snape-Lupins, the Snape-Savages, the MacMillans, Padma Patil, and the staff of Alchemy and Ecstasy, along with a picture of the new little family.

She's here at last! Please join us in welcoming IAINA ANNE SMITH, born 29 July! Mother and baby are recovering at home, but we'd love to have visitors! Just owl first to make sure we're up to company, and be prepared to see the prettiest little witch in London!

[Note sent enclosed in a care package containing Snape-formulated diaper rash salve, two magically self-cleaning bibs (pinned to one is a small piece of parchment reading "Found these invaluable."), and a box of Honeyduke's chocolate for Debi.]

Congratulations! Iaina is beautiful, and I'm sure she'll be breaking hearts in no time. I hope your recovery is going well, and if there's anything I can do, please let me know. I know how it is adjusting to having a new baby, so I won't intrude straight-away, but we'll talk soon.

Serenus -

Thank you for EVERYTHING! So far she hasn't had any rash, but it's probably inevitable - if it works as well as the stretch mark cream, you have another best seller on your hands, guaranteed.

I'll owl you when I'm feeling up to visitors - so far I feel a little sore, but I'm more exhausted than anything else. Come over in a week or two? I can only watch so many Doctor Who reruns before my eyeballs turn square, if you know what I mean.

A large package arrives, addressed to "Her Royal Highness, Princess Iaina Anne Smith, and her adoring parents. Inside is a huge stuffed dragon wearing a diaper and a baby cap, with a pacifier in its mouth. The dragon holds an envelope, in which is a certificate which provides "Ms. Iaina Anne Smith with full tuition to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, upon the occasion of her acceptance that that school." Another certificate is for "Madame Aphrodite's Day Spa" and entitles the bearer to a day of luxurious pampering, massage, manicure, and hairstyling. For Zach there is a huge bottle of Grand Marnier with a small tag reading "For celebration now, and sleep later!" There is also a note.

Congratulations on your wonderful new daughter! There is nothing quite as special as a little baby girl, is there? I can't wait to see her! In the meantime, I hope you don't mind my presumption in the gift; I gave Neville the same for his twins, and I have no doubt your little angel will end up at school with our ~~hellions~~ wee ones. If you like, think of it as enticement not to send her to Beauxbatons to escape the Snape Horde!

Debi gasped as she read the note and the gift certificate - full tuition to Hogwarts? It was almost too much, but then again, she had no idea how much a wizarding school cost.

She glanced down at Junior, who was peacefully asleep in her cot, wispy hair sticking straight up in front. "Your Uncle Remus - no, we have to find another name for him, he'll kill me if I tell you to call him that - Remus is a very good man. Someday you'll have to thank him properly - "

Junior shifted in her sleep and made a tiny ah bah sound. Debi couldn't help dabbing tears from her eyes - her baby was so beautiful, and so sweet! " - just as soon as you're old enough to talk, that is."

She wrote a quick thank you note, then settled down for a nap while Junior slept. That day of pampering would come in mighty handy when she felt awake enough to enjoy it....

A disgruntled Henry arrives with several packages strung together. The source of his disgruntlement may be the package containing iced oatmeal biscuits, which appears to have beak and talon marks along the edges, but remains intact. The other boxes contain a large bouquet of cut daffodils, daisies, and pansies, under a Preservation Charm; a potted Dandy Lion; and a plush frog, dressed in awkwardly-stitched Healer's robes, which has been charmed to croak softly in a rhythm like a heartbeat when its middle is squeezed.

Sorry this is a bit late, but I had the twins help me with the baking so that they could be involved in the gift giving, and well, we tried to make you chocolate biscuits but they ate them. Switching to oatmeal seems to have solved that problem.

Congratulations on your new arrival! I'm sure you're tired (I know I was), but do try to enjoy the time while she's so small. I'm sure that she'll be big enough that Gawain will be demanding kisses from her all too soon.

	Dear Luna - Oatmeal biscuits are fine, and the flowers are lovely. She's already drooled on the frog, too, which I guess means she likes it. I'm still pretty tired, but I love being a mom.
