Perhaps a better world is drawing near
Characters: Harry, Sirius
Summary: Harry and Sirius discuss life and death and all that deep stuff.
From one of the recesses of the elaborate workout room came a faint pop. Harry closed his eyes so he wouldn't have to look at the scene before him any longer. His defense room in the barn was slowly coming apart as the modifications he'd made with magic unraveled themselves. Walls that used to hover and move now leaned against whatever objects they were near when they stopped working, soft balls of cotton fluff that had obscured the view when floating in mid-air now littered the floor, and his wardos, the balls of Harry's own magic designed to attack and move about as opponents, lay on the floor.
Their colour was dull and lifeless, their centers barely lit by the glow of magic. One-by-one, the wardos were disintegrating as the magic leeched completely out of them, ending with a soft pop, like soap bubbles. Harry heard another crash and shook with exhaustion. It felt like his own magic was dwindling as surely as the wardos', and in time Harry would pop and fade away just like them.
He was sure that whatever was causing the magic to disappear was the same thing that brought his parents back to him. Lily didn't like the idea of his continued work on defense and she never came into this room, but Harry was grateful that he could get to know that about her - get to know his parents, finally, his fondest wish come true. That was why he could smile even as another wardo popped and he wondered what he would do with the room if he truly became a Muggle.
